I have visited there a number of times. They really do not have what I consider great saltwater stores. They have a manufacturer of large tanks that is interesting. But the selection in Washington State and California is better in my opinion. Some of the hotels have mega size tanks with primarily fish rather than true reefs. But there sheer size is interesting.
There is a reef exhibit in the Mandalay Bay that has some sharks. It's $18.00 per person atleast when I visited in May it was. Didn't get a chance to visit any fish stores too busy helping Vegas pay the light bill, LOL
reefjungle is one,
the other is beyond the reef, the guy that owns it is a bit too medicated or maybe not enough. He randomly cusses customers out and kicks them out of his store for no reason.
I was out that way last month and checked out few stores.
Here is what I found:
Beyond the Reef:
More fresh water stuff than saltwater. Not the best selection of livestock but they had the best reef display of the stores I visited. I'm still trying to figure out how he gets any coral growth out of the lighting he has over it that seems to be way under-powered.
Reef Jungle
Really small shop with tiny tanks that hold their livestock. Wasn't overly impressed with their selection of corals as many were browned out and I noticed that one of their light fixtures on a display tank had major salt buildup on the glass over the halides which was greatly reducing the amount of light the corals were getting.
Trop-Aquarium
Nice folks that run this place. Not a reef shop but had a decent selection of saltwater fish and live rock. Owners daughter that works their has a nice nano setup with a clam and dracula goby (super rad!) and looks to have a hitchhiker gorilla crab as well
Cracked me up that they had to chain up the salt buckets due to some idiots that try and dash in and run out with a bucket.
As far a casino aquariums go, the Mermaid Bar has the best display hands down. TONS of fish and I'm pretty sure I spotted a Humphead Wrasse in there. Lots of amazing triggers and tangs. Oh yeah, and a couple of awesome Jelly fish kressle tanks behind the bar. You can bring the kids as the tank is outside the bar entrance.
