I'm with ya 100% krish. In the past Iv'e run in to many that don't fully understand that the biological filter is dynamic...constantly adjusting and adapting to the bioload. ive heard " once its cycled, you can add all your livestock" and they don't understand the " mini cycle" which Iv'e tried to differentiate here by refering to it as " balance".

Yea, it's crazy!! One change and the biological filter has to basically re-organize LOL!!

I appreciate all of your opinions and experiences.

Thanks again

No problem! In all cases, do what works best for you. You will find in many situations that people will have a difference of opinions so whatever is suggested, look into a bit more and find which route suits you best. :)

Well tonight everything is back to normal on the readings.
one orange reading above zero on the Nitrate
but nothing on Nitrite and Ammonia

I like what I read above. One thing I often remind people is to wash their hands before working in tank. Soaps, oils, hand lotions, bacterial disenfectants, etc brought into your tank from you.

It has been a week and last night's readings has all at 0 or barely noticeable in the color change in the chemical readings.

- I did add about 20#s more of LR from a well established tank with only 20 minutes out of their water to mine last week.
- did a 20% change last night
- Coral and fish doing well
- The T5s (until I can afford LED) really made the corals happy

Everything is still great and all readings still zero.

I am ending this thread and thanks again for ALL of your thoughts...

Jay,
I was just reminded by a friend how important it is to Test for Ammonia. You would be surprised how much a ten dollar Ammonia test kit can do. Some RO/DI may still let Ammonia get by. You can add another cartridge to your RO/DI or you can buy Prime. Better to be safe than sorry. Your parameters may be on the money, but smallest amount of ammonia can be toxic to fish and corals.

Yes that is exactly what it looked like.
Milky.

So fish in bucket
3/4 water change
Change more the next day
Good backers and more live rock
Did the trick within two days. This is what worked fir me and my setup's conditions.

All I did was increase surface agitation to oxygenate the tank a bit more and let it run it's course. Glad you got it all sorted out. :)
