I do a 150 gal RO/DI water change every month. I do not blast or stir :) I evaporate 12 gals a day which is replaced by kalkwasser. My sand is clean and white and most of my liverock no longer shows as the corals have covered it. My tank will be 3 years old on June 13th.

Regards,
Kevin

g'd.... 150 gal every month? what freakin' size is your tank?

I do 5 gallons a week. I do little increments at a time so I don't stress my tank out by doing big water changes. (I used to do 20-25% every month!)

We do a 10g change every couple of weeks. Sometimes, every third week. We also siphon off the rocks when we change the water.

I change 5 gal a week and blast the rocks and the bare bottom. Just trying to get everything to settle down after removing the DSB!

Lots of new faces here, maybe this thread is the place to start.
I do a massive water change every two months, I say massive, 35g from a 100g tank, 30g sump with about 80g of total water. I plan on getting a Diatom filter soon, then a nice UV. I would probably reduce the amount of WC from there, maybe just topping off. If so, then I'll add a small amount of traces every month along with the CA supplementing. I never did finish my tank set-up because I'm in the process of conceptual thoughts on a larger system, so it is an ongoing process. I hope to have preliminary drawings soon, from there I'll set-up a thread and post progress.

Hi Nikki!!

Took your advice and checked out the PSAS site and here I am. Thanks for the good info as always!

I Do Water Changes 25gal Per Month, and I Always Test My New Water Ph,alk, Mag, Ca, Po4. I Won't Add Water That Isn't Ran For At Least 24 Hrs Ahead Of Time I Also Test My Tank 1 To 2 Times Per Week.

like most others, I'm a once a week kind of guy. I get in my routine and just do about 5 gallons each week. My display is 55 and my sump holds about 45, so I'm really only doing 5% a week. Then when I'm feeling up to it (probably about every month or so), I'll do a 10 gallon water change.

I "inhereted" my tank

it was 3-4 years old,
and the old owner "never" did water changes (well, maybe half a dozen the whole time she had the tank, and only if nitrates were high)

I've been doing "Semi-regular" changes,
I test before the change, and the day after.

rarely see any differences,
so I'm stretching out my changes, as long as everything stays at 0ppm:D

I don't do it for the nitrate or any other reason than change the water. My parameters are very good even after a month. Nitrates are untracable , but i think just to dilude the water is good. I dose so to change the water every 2 weeks is a waste for me. The tank is healthy. I know of some old timer that wait 3 months apart....4 even yuk.
