water tests ?

what are the main, or needed water tests, that need to be ck, to maintain a general tank no mater what you are keeping in it, or add to it later....
 
I agree, however, if you keep skeleton building corals, then add Calcium to the list. Once my tank was stable, I rarely tested for ammonia, or nitrite....but have them on hand. pH, Alk, Ca, Nitrate, Nitrite, and ammonia for general tank tests.
 
In my order of preference... temp, salinity (using a refractometer), alk, ca, mg, ph, nitrAte and just incase keep amm and nitrIte.
