Yeah...I figure if Atlantis won't take it, that's what he'll do. The shark definately won't be able to stay in there too long so I'll keep you'll posted as to what he does:)

Not to be the nagging nanny but you should be careful about releasing things back into the wild. In this case the usual argument about inappropriate species doesn't apply since you caught it there, but it's my understanding that the release of aquarium fish into the wild can be a cause of disease outbreak.

And not to forget that they often do not know how to compete or search for food in the wild after being tank fed. Of course, you could cook and consume it. Krish would be a Man, eating shark:lol: (You did say you were a dude?)

Krish where are some pictures of him in his new box? I want to see how he looks in an aquarium..

keep us posted!!

LOL! I'm a dude, but don't eat sharks:p Matt...I will get you some pics man. I'll try to do that today:)

I agree Brian...That's why I never catch anything for my tank I don't plan on keeping. I don't necessarily like to throw back stuff if it's been in my tank unless all the fish in my tank came from the wild. Now in my case where I have the clowns and the yellow tang (not from here) anything local I add to my tank, could never go back into the ocean. Atleast I won't ever do it:)

I'm going to meet Andrew up at Papa John's this afternoon about 3:30pm to get a few shots of the shark. He says it won't be long before it comes out (going to be too big too soon). I'll post what I get if nothing comes up with my little one before:)

I think the shark will have to come out of his tank really soon. The sump is not running because the overflow cracked and he doesn't have the proper sized skimmer on the tank to keep up with the waste that the shark will produce. I figure by the weekend, he'll either be in one of Atlantis' tanks or Andrew would have taken him back to the ocean. :)

omg!!! what the heck did they do with your tank dood:eek: .
not for nothing but that tank went from one of the most beautiful to some crappy thing :(

great pictures I think that that shark needs some soft sand though, if I'm not mistaken bottom sharks can get infections very easy from cuts and scratches caused by the rocks... I am sorry for being so concerned.
They are great pictures and a very nice shark indeed. too bad they dont eat hair algea huh??

LOL! That's why I said I'd send him to you Matt. I see you have tons of sand!:p

Well Gabbs...He doesn't have the proper skimmer on it (I think it is called a skilter filter/skimmer for smaller tanks) the phosban reacotr isn't running, I don't think any carbon unless the skilter holds it and the CPR cracked and so the sump is not running. We may go out tomorrow to see if we can get some tangs to help clean up. The same time I can try and find that anemone I wanted and a few smaller fish:)

Well that is a very cool shark and good god that is a lot of algae!!! Your Tunzes look like heads of lettuce! Yeah even though he isn't outgrowing the tank and still has enough room in there to swim. The fact that its a nurse shark is enough to either return or donate/sell it to someone who has the proper tank for a shark like that. I would one day like to be able to keep a nurse shark in my home but thats my dream tank.

Krish that tank has done a complete 180 since i last saw it in your house. If i saw that in a resteraunt i think i would be to grossed out to order anything. I mean that is a lot of freakin algae! IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEBODIES FUGE!

The condition of the tank should be brought up to speed, even then, I really hope there is a much larger tank in the works for this guy. With the set up now, it is just a matter of time before he scrapes himself and gets infected. You can’t always count on selling it/ giving it to a zoo, either, depending on what their policies are. If the shark was caught in the wild, they may not take it. Nurse sharks grow up to 15 feet long if taken care of properly and can come with a min. water requirement of 1,000 to 5,000 gals. A shark acquisition is nothing to take lightly.

Hey Everyone,

Yeah I agree the tank is in a horrible state primarily precipitated by a manager (can't figure how) that managed to crack my overflow. I should be happy that she admitted to it three days later when I was on vacation in Orlando and by the time I got back hair algae city. With no skimmer at all at that time it pretty much finished off the algae bloom. In spite of that the three frags I had in it all survived and are in my thirty gallon at home. Krish seems to think my cousin who works with acrylic can fix the flow so that is good news. As far as the shark goes this is my third baby nurse and the second largest of the two I have had. I don't recommend them for anyone except commercial aquariums as they can reach upwards of ten feet in captivity. They also have voracious appetites and will eat anything that can get in their mouths! I couldn't see any claspers so forgive me if I say her, but I think it is a little girl. She goes home this weekend (to the sea) just put her in to give the customers excitment while I work on l cleaning up the mess this weekend. As far as comfort three or four more inches and she won't be able to turn around, but at present there isn't any undo stress as she can make turns without bumping the walls. One of the main reasons I won't give her to Atlantis is that they breed their own rather successfully as well as Caribbean Reef Sharks and another reason I wont keep her long term is the one I did keep a while back got entirley to comfortable around humans looking for food when I did release her and ended up being killed. Nurse Sharks have what amounts to bony ridges in their mouths rather than teeth and at this size the crushing power isnt there yet so it feels like she is sucking on your hand with alot of pressure when she "bites". The area where Krish and I were swimming seems to be a nursery and breeding area for Nussies as we call them because almost every year around this time I find babies, late August to early September.
