I noticed some something weird in my sand today. I took some pictures, but I'm not sure if they are good enough to help in describing what they look like. They look like little, grey dead worms, about 1/2 inch in length sticking out of the sand. I'm not entirely sure they're dead though, and I'm not entirely sure they're worms. They're moving w/the current, but not on their own that I can see, which is what is leading me to think they're dead. Any ideas on what they could possibley be?

They don't have the "fan" part of feather dusters...but if that's what they are, do I need to do something with them and does that say something about the state of my tank right now?

I looked up vermetids and I'm willing to bet baby feather dusters over vermetids because of the pictures I saw and because I never saw them spitting any kind of mucus into the tank...still curious as to whether I should be worried about them though...

they look like protein worms that I used to get in my freshwater.

check to see if they retreat by sticking something in there to touch them
