Umm ok.

Soooo my tank has cleaned up a lot. Filter sock Has been cleaned MANY times in the last 24 and the LR is cleaning up very nicely. Now onto another issue...

My water has a very Yellow tint. I use RODI water though. It seems to be worse at night and last night I couldn't see from one side of the tank to the other through the end pane.

Also I had a SNail melt. He was alive when I moved him. Wasn't doing anything for about an hour went to move him again and he was a black slimer sludge. (mexican turbo)

Advice input?

Ammonia is at 0 last I checked.

Lighting is 3 250w MH

each end is 20k and the center is 15K

I notice it a little during the day and really bad at night after the lights kick off. I know there is some particulate floating from getting blown off the rock. I can attest to that since my filter sock has been BLACK with algae/detrius from an outbreak earlier this week. I've just never had a snail MELT for no reason. My fish are happy as can be.

Could I just need to run Carbon? Which would suck since I have no carbon reactor.

ya know what really weird about melting snails? If you put salt on a slug or a reglar old land snail, they melt. how the heck did snails end up in salt water? Now THAT is weird

Sounds like you may have copper in your system. Where did you get your rock was it used in a fish only system before? Copper is ussed to treat fish from ich and other decease. If so there is a possibility that the rock has absorbed into it and now is releaseing it into your water. The snail melting away is the reason why I suspect copper.

That's not what I want to here....start over is the general concensus. I hope not , because I cannot afford to start over....

It wasn't the rock it was me. I made a crucial mistake in construction. I am fixing it. Now how can I remove the copper/leaked metals?

I haven't confirmed it yet. But the brass fitting I forgot about would make sense to release copper. Yes I'm a jack1@#$%. I'm going to get it tested later today. I have found all neccesary components to begin treatment if neccesary though and the old fitting is GONE. Oh well live and learn

It's ok. There were only a few pilot frags. All the ones I really care about are in my neo nano. I lost some 2 frag polyps I took off a mini colony I had.

I got tested at 0ppm copper. There may be trace amounts though so I will be running media to remove it. Also some carbon.

Agree on the carbon with the yellow tint... especially since your lights are high K. You said ammonia is zero... phosphates?

Ammonia is Zero I'll check with another kit...phosphates tested zero on my Elos kit.

My tank is MUCH MUCH clearer than before after changing those valves though. Maybe I caught it before it was too late.

Will do. I'm looking at all the options I've got right now. It's crazy how levels can be where they are supposed to be, but it is still "bad" water.
