what about Lalo Live Rock??

I have been looking for the coolest looking rock for my 110 tall tank. So far from what I have seen, i like the lalo live rock. I have seen pictures from liveaquaria.com. Unfortunatly these are the only pictures i have seen because i cannot find any more pictures or information on this rock on the web. Does anybody have any opinions on this rock or pictures. What do you guys think are the best looking rocks and why???

I do not have much info on the true origination of lalo rock but I did buy some from Liveaquaria over 2 yrs ago when setting up my FIRST lil reef tank Ahh the fond memories..

I found the Lalo rock to be among the best in shape and life for smaller tanks. The pieces are definately better sized than Fiji rock, but smaller than some of the other types. I would say if color and diversity is your goal then Lalo is a good choice (much dies in curring though). If you want larger rock Dr. Mac's freight shipped uncurred rock was excellent to me..

I've only had experience with Fiji rock and a friend of mine has tonga branch like Steve's. Both I found to be fine. I've never had any experience with Lalo rock, but I'm sure if it is on the market and others are using it, then it should be fine (depending on what application). The only problem I've ever had with ordering rock is you never know what you're gonna get (I sound like Forest Gump) LOL. It is, IMO always better if you could pick out the pieces yourself, but we all don't have that luxury. I'm sure out of all of the members on this site, someone uses the Lalo rock and can give their opinion. If you don't get any replies then that might be a sign.

When I set up my last tank I ordered a couple boxes of the lalo. I thought it would be like fiji but I got two pieces that each weighed 32 lbs., and then some smaller pieces. I liked it and it definitely has som good shapes.

I ordered the fugi from Liveaquaria two times and have great rock each time. Here is some pictures of the rock. This is a 55 gallon tank so you can get the idea of the amount of yock in the order. Heres a link to the stuff I ordered.

I ordered 2 of these 45 pound boxes for this tank. I paid 99 bucks each box at the time but they are on sale for 89 right now. This was about 14 months ago but I asume they are getting the same rock.

I definatley lke the way that the rock looks. My real question is why don't very many people carry it and why don't very many people use it?

Its Figi Premium from LiveAquaria.com. Lots of people use it. I was pleased with it. The shapes are awesome. I think the guys at Liveaquaria are pretty good about making sure you get nice rocks with every order. Each box I got had like 3 or 4 really excelent rocks with great shapes then they threw in 2 that work great for using on the bottom of your reef for base. The quantity was good. Not too dense. I havent used anything else these are my first tanks. I think the lalo rocks would probably be good to.

Can someone please help me with a drawing of all the components and how thay all come together. Not the lighting this is no problem. Please note: you may need to alot a few hours (quite a few hours, lol) to reading all the available information in RF's Resource Library. I am not sure that you will find to many drawings in the library, of how all the components come together, but there is a wealth of information, none the less.

You may want to also purchase a basic aquarium start up book, there are quite a few available, so take your pick. bbauer: I like the Pukani rock best! It has great shape, its light weight compared to others (More rock for the weight and money), it is very porous, and grows stuff on it like no other rock in my experience. I have figi and pukani in my tank. The figi came with some brown and white sponges. The pukani came with pink, white, yellow, and even a black colored sponge. Coralline seems to cover it faster too. Only draw back is I have seen it cost a little more than other rock.

yeah, pukani, i was trying to remember the name. Scott has his 150 filled with it right now, just got it set up. so many holes to fill up with corals!

I have the figi premium from foster smith and i bought branch to go under it to keep it off the bottom and I love it that way. However, because I love change, if I could afford it and had the energy I'd like to replace half with pukani because it is great to stuff frags in holes easily.
