Hmmm...interesting. Is there more of it, or is the photo all there is?

If it opens and closes the siphon, then its a sea squirt/tunicate.

In fact, their ability to contract their siphons is the one easy trait to separate the ascidians from the at-times similar Sponges (phylum Porifera) which have permanent openings.

that is pretty much it. I squeezed it and it shot me. I am definately leaning towards sea squirt
 
glad to hear it is working for you. a few ph's and a wave maker are great for almost anything. I still want more flow in my 75. around 3500gph now and would like to almost double that. In time
