I have a coral beauty and 2 perculas, so I cant keep a maroon or a flame angel. I have tried firefish and my clowns killed it. I also tried a longnose hawk who starved to death from not accepting any food. I will pass on flame cardinals. So what are some inexpensive red fish available?

I'm sure others may have ideas for you. I don't usually recommend fishes because it is a personal choice.

However I am posting to tell you that a pair of Anemonefish in a 45 gallon aquarium is a 'full aquarium.' They will require about 9 cubic feet of space to call their own. So, they think they own the entire aquarium. They will most likely defend the aquarium (their space) from almost any addition you try to make.

The Coral Beauty in with the pair is about all the fish you should put in that aquarium, considering an 'average marine system' has been set up.

Your approach, technique can be much improved. Do not put fish into any established marine system until you have put it through a proper quarantine process. Part of putting fish through this process is to train the wild ones how and what to eat so that they don't starve in your aquarium. I think you'd benefit by reading these two references:

A Quarantine Procedure

Good luck! :)
