I have a 65g and all is well:clap2:, I have been looking at a lot of other systems and many things are touching each other. I have been diligent to keep all of my corals from coming into contact with other species. This creates an unnatural look. Is there a rule to follow? Can some things touch like zoos and frogspawn? Here is a short list of things in the tank

Acropora
Frogspawn
zoos
candy coral
brain coral
leather
flowerpot
birds nest
duncan
zinnia
mushrooms

Fish
maxim clam
firefish
hipo tang
foxface
chromis
stripped blenny
dimmond back goby
frimani

to answer your question most species can touch like i have a euphylia garden (torch, hammer, frogspawn) on the other hand i had a bunch of acans next to each other and for some reason on of them decided to destroy the other one. i have several monti caps growing on each other. all my zoanthids are growing next to each other as well.

Actually, MOST species cannot touch, without a negative impact, on one or the other. There are exceptions to this rule, as some corals, within the same family, can touch one another, with no issues. Such as Hammer/Frogspawn. Different colors of Monti cap can usually touch. Zoanthids can usually touch one another, though one will usually become dominant and take over the other. Whenever most corals touch one another, they will compete for space, with one usually losing out. Sometimes, a 'stalemate' will be reached, with each growing around each other.

Even within the same family or species, most SPS will combat one another.

Different species of Acans will do battle also.

As a general rule, it's good to give most of our corals space. If they do grow to close to one another, watch for stinging, and be prepared to separate.
