A real question...I am a newbie.

LOL, some are and some aren't. My old fuge looked nothing like that, but believe it or not I have seen fuges that look worse than mine.

I had the same problem. What I found was that increased flow took care of my problem. Like you, I also could not increase the flow from my display tank so I added a couple power heads. They cleaned up the problem pretty fast.
