What Has Happened?

This morning I saw my 75 gal. mostly sps w/clams tank, and everything was normal.

This evening, the skimmer is foaming like crazy.

The cup fills up in an hour.

The skimmer has been set the same for months.

I don't know what has happened.

Any Ideas?

Got kids? Did you add any thing at all? Did somebody else? Had maybe over time the venturi got cloged with salt, and you had adjusted it up and up and up and the the salt broke loose? Just thoughts. Steve

Hmmm....aside from the questions Steve posed, especially on additives, did the water look any different, or the inhabitants? How many clams do you have....maybe they had a spawning event? Was there a brand new filter sock put on the tank, without being washed? How is the skimmer functioning this morning?

The skimmer is back to normal now, but yesterday it filled 4 skimmer cups rapidly.

The water was slightly white (cloudy) when I first discovered the skimmer bubbling over the top like a bubble bath - filling the top of my sump with foam.

The only wierd things I could pick up on were not that wierd.

The air intake on my skimmer was under the foam layer. Not that wierd because the chamber was making plenty of foam.

One small open brain type coral spouted one large spray of waste (what would buthead say)

One crocea mantle was tucked in tight, but I see that now and again.

I have about two handfulls of cualurpa(sp) that has grown back since I pulled it from my sump/refugium that looks normal (not blooming)

The margarita snails lay eggs often but thats normal.

I have 3 maxima and two crocea

did you perhaps miss a spawning event? the clams perhaps?

What type of caluerpa...... I had grape go sexual in my reef 3 times..... Whole tank was white like someone poured in milk. I never checked my skimmer when this happened?? just a thought.

Its grape cualurpa.

Can u tell by looking at it that its gone sexual?

Does it begin and end in one day?
