on the rocks I have these long strands which look like fish poo. Trouble is I have no fish in the tank. I have some snails! But these long strands have been appearing long before the snails where added.

The tank is only about two months old.

well if you wanna see them look for them at night.
usually mine comes out way after my lights are off like 2 hours after or when everything is dark around the tank since its in my living room.
we won't know if they are bad or not until you see what type of worm/s you have i guess.
