if you look up his body about 1/2" back from gill flap....there is that whitish marks....had these fish for 8 months ..added a pipefish sunday(from a fellow reefers tank(didnt see any ich at all when purchased......it looks like a abrasion against rock...but all fins are screwed up....still eating but acting very sick(i can put my hand all around him.....DAY 2)....the marks are on both sides....all other fish fine....

Hey DJ Mikey's probably right, guessing its the other Firefish establishing dominance and just a coincidence in timing of adding the Pipefish ???

Cheers/Mahalo, Todd

That is MR. Mike to you!

I would QT the injured fish. Best to do so in the same tank if possible. Get a couple pieces of glass or acrylic, even plastic and divide the tank into two sections. This will be short term untill it is all healed.

Once again agree with Mr. Mike Shifton

Cheers, Todd

DJ, boy these old guys ^^^ sure are cranky in the mornings huh... writing extra small so he won't be able to see/read it lol

mi?....pipefish is in differnt tank on same system...no new fish other then pipefish added in last 6 months...the marks are like blocthes......i think its the smaller one of the 2 injured...them breeding wouldnt cause that would they...i notice all the other fish are being mean to him like they know something is wrong.....could it be flukes?........as to qt in same tank never would happen....he will let me catch him he sat in my hand earlier
See no MI.
Looks like the new addition might have started some fighting.
Watch for aggression.

Hey DJ, you will definitely need to QT or isolate it as once the other fish perceive it to be weak or injured it fair game for all (even normally peaceful fish will attack an injured/dying fish... for whatever reason???). I'm not exactly on your way home but, I do have a hang-in tank/suction cup isolation/divider for Beta's dims are approx 16"x2.5"x4" w/ removable dividers. Your welcome to borrow it if needed. I bought it for a safe place to aclimate new frags and house until following morning when lights come on.

thanks... i have a peaceful 55 gal tank with only a pipefish in it...maybe ill move him in with him..

If the fish is that injured that one can grab him in your hand (very stressful in itself), moving him into a different tank would probably kill it. The water would have to be VERY nearly identical in salinity, ph, temp as would it's temp changes, buffering and many other measurements or the stress on it's body would push it over the edge. This is why I recommended separating it inside the same tank.

i didnt literally move him in hand he just was not afraid at all when i was feeding him by hand...the tank would be identical as its plumbed into the system...i just checked them out and he is eating really well(5 fullsize brineshrimp + 5 pellets).....he looks better today....other fish not being mean to him during feeding...nothing has changed besides add a pipefish on sunday(to 55gal tank)...and got 7 new frags on tuesday....im worried that if it is infection it will transpire to the other fish...

no it was probaly the other fish(forsure)..lol ...in his tank there is a purple tang, villamine tang, 6line wrasse, bi color blenny, lawnmower blenny, mandarin goby, and the loner clown....i think time will be only thing.
