What is on the surface of my water?

When I look up at the surface of my water, I see what looks like an oily substance swirling around. Any thoughts?

Disolved organics maybe Increase flow increase flow to the top of the water so it causes more surface agatation. Do you have a skimmer ? Does it skim water off the surface of the tank ?

I agree...Increase surface aggitiation if it is limited now. That should help out a bit in most cases

Before i had a drilled tank, i used to just hook this up to my skimmer and it would suck all of that off the top . I am sure that you could even (some how) hook it up to a PH intake and it would atleast keep the top stired. Hope that helps.
