Krish, please. Detri, wow I am sorry to hear that you got soo ripped off. There is always someone out there that is just in it for money. If you need me to come up there and knock some heads JLMK? Do you have any pix of these suspect rocks? Just curious.

Krish, how did you get pics of my stand? big t, Naw don't need help, he is just a little guy hehe. Yea its a huge bummer what happened to me. I am actually only pissed about the time I lost on my tank. It was my fault for not learning to recognise the rock on my own. Having my freshwater tank so long I never thought about what i put into my tank. I saw it, I liked it, it went in. I didn't get pics of all the pieces. I was wondering why, after 2 weeks of owning it, it was $3 bucks less a pound than what the other LFS were selling it for. So I started asking around and finally someone I knew came over to check it out. I didn't want to post pics till I knew what it was so I wouldn't have someone here tell me what it was, and get really embaraced. I should have taken them so I could post them so people would have a reffrence. A well, live and learn.

Detri, you need to let Tom know about your wife, then he'll understand why you don't need any help(LOL) Have you decided when you are going to get the new rock yet? The problem with that is, they may say that it is cured, but you never really know until you put it in your tank and you start to see some die off. Are you going to move out your clowns or just put the rock in with them? My friends tank was up and running good with 55lbs of LR and then he decided to add another 55lb box and unfortunately is wasn't cured like they said it was and his ammonia, nitrates etc shot through the roof and he lost a lot of fish. Now I'm not trying to scare you, but you got to be careful. Good luck

Oh BTW, before anyone goes and thinks I'm a mean person for teasing Detri a little bit about his rocks, I was only fooling around with him and I'm sure he knows it. He is a nice guy and we are pretty cool friends here and joke around with one another alot so don't think anything bad. ;)

I knew he was foolin. I am thick skinned. I take a lot of abuse and actually like the light hearted jokes. That said, I know about the rocks :( I think thats what partly upsets me. I am going to have to use one of my hang-ons and a seprate tank or contaniner to cycle it myself. (one good thing about a hang-on :) I think I am going to keep one on my sump for easy set up of a QT) I wish I didn't have the fish my daughter got for her B-Day. Good thing its only a 30g. Anyway, I am good spirits. And I got to learn sumthin :D

Good for you Detri. I think it is best to let the rock cycle seperately because you never know about the rock these days. Not only is it possible that it won't be fully cured, but you might have some really bad worms or other pests in there you wouldn't want in your tank. My friend here from the LFS always washes all of his LR off with tonic water to get all of the worms out. He said he has read about doing that from a saltwater book he has and I actually saw a few on the guys run out of the rock. However, I don't know what else it will do to the rock, so I don' bother with the stuff. Just let it sit and let it be. Patience will pay off for you in the end.

Hey Detri, you had better have thick skin comming from Ontario! Those winters'll kick any Pacific North Westers ASS (not to mention any Bahama Boys who get to go out and CATCH his tank inhabitants!)

Welcome to the hobby, I'm one of the friendly ones, probably because I'm a canadian transplant. ;)

As for my favorite part - there are so many fun things! Meeting everyone and sharing information (not to mention the sweet deals on frags).

So far the most satisfying moment to date was breaking down the QT and having the tank "set up" with all of the inhabitants living synonymously.

Good luck getting some good LR!

Shauna, no need to worry about Detri...He'll be just fine. He's got me to hang out with here in the Bahamas when it gets too cold for him in Canada and he can come and catch whatever he wants for his tank also for free! You can't beat that!
