What kind of bulbs do you use!

Hey all!

I am looking at VHO bulbs! What kind/brand/color do you all use?

I have heard Uri are good.

I purchased 2 VHO ballasts and end caps for lighs and I am going to convert my existing normal output hoods (1 48inch double bulb, and 1 36 inch double bulb) to VHO light hoods. Bought this kit http://www.hellolights.com/22elarovhoba.html.

Thoughts everyone?

Hey James! I'm just using compacts right now, but will be venturing into your "neck of the woods" sometime next year when I go to add some corals. I'll follow along to see what responses you get. Best of luck!

I also use URI for actinics.

URIs are awesome. I honestly think that if I were restricted to one type of bulb, I'd choose VHOs. Absolutely the best color IMO.

Well.......!!!!! URI it is!!!!


What do you think of the ballast kit I bought? Is it good? Will it do the job? They say that each ballast caln handle up to 2 72 inch VHO bulbs. I am only wanting to run 2 36inch and 2 48 inch off of the 2 ballasts.
