What kind of sponge is this?

I got this about 6 months ago but I don't know what kind of sponge this is and I couldn't find any pictures that looked like it on google. I thought it was doing good but in the last few weeks the tips started turning really dark almost black. Is there anything I can do so it doesn't die?

Looks like an Aussie spider sponge to me that lost its whiteness. Maybe it's in an area that gets too much light.

Hmm maybe but it has always been a very nice orange since the day I got it. I was thinking about moving it under a rock or something for shade though.

Most sponges live in deeper water and do not require light. they usually like good flow and food. Phyto, Marine Snow, Cyclopeze. A older mature tank also has more living things in it we do not see, but helps to feed such animals.

You're going to need to target feed it if you don't have much nutrients in your system.

Barrier Reef sells them in the frozen popsicle form, pretty cheap if i remember right

A Red Sea Aquarium in Shoreline has frozen cyclopeze also. They are a little closer to you.
