Since going "fishless" I have rediscovered the fun of shrimp. I was thinking staying with small peaceful fish (gobies, pipefish, cardinals) and a variety of shrimp. Any experience with keeping multiple species of shrimp in a tank? I know I have kept cleaner and peppermint together without a problem.

Shrimp I am thinking of keeping:
  • cleaner
  • peppermint
  • coral banded
  • fire
  • sexy
  • any other I can find that are compatible

Fish would be:
  • pipefish
  • small gobies

Let me know what you guys think and toss out other shrimp you know of that might be fun/entertaining.

IME i would say no on the coral banded...all the others i think would get along i have a coral banded in my tank and if the shrimp you decide to add is smaller then it he will eat it atleast mine does....

You may want to research combatibility of pipefish and large shrimp. I introduced a dragon faced pipefish to my 125 gal aquarium a couple of years ago and upon introduction, my cleaner shrimp grabbed it and started tearing it apart. It died and I was devestated. I personally will never add another pipefish to an aquarium with shrimp...

Not sure if this is common for them or not, but it's what I experienced.

Damn! That's a hungry cleaner. Good to know. Thanks.

coral banded's are safe only if they are gold or blue ,and small:)
Thank you. I would probably be coming into your shop anyway since you are right close to me. I need to research a little more.
