Does the Xantrex kick on automatically when the power goes out? Or is it something that must be done manually?
Damn GFCI tripped this morning for the first time in a year for no apparent reason. Luckily I was running late for work and noticed the eerie silence of the tank before I left. Just plugged it in to a different non gfci outlet. A temp fix for now.

just my 2 thoughts on this...

first a genarator is the way 2 go. but

my 2nd thought

let me see 2 batterys would be 24volt
64volt battery setup (4 in sequince) to a inverter Dc-Ac

(thats gonna run a penny right there)

or like the relay idea takeing that a step

64 volt sequinced batteery hook up... on a trickel change with a relay for power outage? this is pritty heavy.... i could brake a brain cell thinking about this..

ill just stick with the "sell the truck for a genarator" theory

Yes, it will automatically kick in (and does so with NO noticeable delay).

I've been pretty pleased with the unit overall (of course my power HASN'T gone out again since I plugged it in....):p

Depending on your tank size, you will have to closely plan what to plug in to it (to maximize the battery life...) but it's the biggest battery unit at that price range that I've found....

I've even spilled some saltwater on it a few times:oops: and no smoke/fire/sparks!

Fo sho, fo sho. Im on the third floor of a apartment building though so no place to put one =\ Im on a busy street too so I cant even risk running one on street level. For my my 125 that Im planning though for when I move, Ill defintly pick up a 5kw+ generator for it.

They maybe sold out at Costco...
I know mine took FOREVER to ship and when I finally called cust. serv. it seemed like Costco.com wasn't going to carry them anymore (I guess I got "the last one"! )

But Bestbuy.com has them (and I think tigerdirect.com too...);)

Oh and bestbuy.com says that the Bestbuy store in Tukwila actualy has some in stock!
(when I looked at XMAS--NO Washington, and no Portland stores had them...)

(AND has gotten so much cheaper this week--it might finally actually be cheaper to drive again vs. paying for shipping!!);)

Wow even sweeter! Just spent an hour trying tog et my costco.com account to work and it doesn't=\ I try to log in and it says I havent registered. I try to register and it says I already have with that email /boggle.

Looks like im goin to bestbuy instead.

I got my xantrex from QVC (no laughter please) for 164.99. It arrived within a week. It has scince served me through an 8 hour power outage with >60% battery capacity left. It has a digital power meter telling watts load and % battery life remaining as well as a blue emergency illumination LED.

With what running?

Don

Im going to leave my my skimmer and Seio's plugged in to the back up and thats it. At 36W it should last me long enough to get power back. (or notice that my gfci has tripped)

I live in the heart of north seattle, so if my area looses power for a long time, the tank is probably the least of my worries.
