I was doing my morning check of the tank and saw something new on the rock.

The new tank has been set up for a couple of weeks. All the rock was brought over from my old tank. that particular rock has been in my system(s) for a few years now. I don't remember anything growing in that spot before.

Any thoughts on what this might be?

And yes...I do see the bubble algae :)

It is kinda cool. I've had something like those too, but never had too many of them. They seem to have gona away on there own, or something ate them. And if you dont like it, it is easier to remove than bubble algae at least.

New live rock, new hitchhikers. This little guy popped up a week or two ago. It's been growing steadily since I first saw it. Now it's about the size of a marble. Seems like some type of sponge.

Any ideas on what it is?

Darn it, I was going to say bubble algae, because I don't know what that other thing is. If you need more bubble algae though, let me know.

A bb plate coral? Me and my wife bought a small piece of liverock last year that had something very similar on it and now its a full on long tentacle plate coral. Its still attached to the rock with a lil stem and now its about 2" across. Theres also 2 more lil ones growing right underneath it.

Thats cool......I love it when something grows on it's own. I have a green slimmer that I sold and a small piece must have been left on the spot where it was and it's growing again.
