redbubblealgae.jpg

Scientific Description: This is Red Bubble Algae, one of the Botryocladia species, (probably skottsbergeii or pyriformis) . Some of the Botryocladia species, like Botryocladia occidentalis, are desirable. The main difference between an invasive species of Botryocladia and a desirable one is how it grows. Desirable species grow up from branches, and invasive species creep along the rock just leaving hard to remove bubbles. Some are in between both in risk and branch development.

or might be different...just giving an idea

We had that algea in our 34 Gallon tank..If you pop the bubbles,It encourages it to spread..I had to manually remove it from the rocks..You better get to it while its still small and fresh...Thats just our experiances!

I have the same things. Red bubble algae that my lawnmower blennie likes to eat. They are really neat and adds another texture to your tank.

I guess time will tell, I haven't removed it or anything. I'm going to keep it in the tank for a while and see what it is going to to

I'd vote red valonia as well. I have a ton of it in my refugium if you want more.
