just got all my new test kits from elos and was testing my mag. got 1500ppm is this too high or just normal ive heard that 1200-1300 is where you want to be but not sure if a bit high on mag is a big deal...

any input is apriciated

thanks

this is my new SPS tank i used IO salt mix and mixed it at 1.025 then i tested everything aside from the mag and alk/calc. where a bit low so i added

for alk: reef carbonate
for calc: reef advantage calcium

tested just today and got:

calc: 420
alk: 8.4 DKH
mag: 1500ppm
PH:8.2

how do i get this down a bit then also in my older softies tank mag is at 1400ppm not as high but a little...

I think you have a test kit failure. IO should come in low. You did use rodi water right?

What name brand test kit did you get? I'd guess either the kit or one of the additives your putting in there, have you tested before & after adding? Also you should test after several hours or over night after adding.

its a brand new elos kit that i bought today...just went to test it and it read 1500 the reef calcium it has some mag. but not really enough to do that to it i wouldnt thing and if it did the calc. should be way out of wack so maybe i just tested it wrong im going to read the kit a bit and retest... and then ill have barrier test it also on friday see if its a wrong reading...thanks for your input guys
