Now that I have a tank going, it would be nice to fill it up with some lives :) I am wondering where is a good place to get corals (softies and LPS)? I prefer to get something small-ist and let it grow so that 1. it cost less and 2. satisfaction of watching it grow

I looked at what's available in LFS and I really don't see something that I particular like, not to mention they are rather expansive.

I like the idea of buying of fellow local reefers, except everytime something is listed I am likely not the first one to respond.

Is online source a better place to buy corals, any particular site? Should I post a WTB post in the livestock forum instead and hope?

I am from KY so I wont be much help. LOL Have you joined the local reef club? Most of you westie coast folks have clubs on this forum. Those are the people to get frags from. You know they live in aquariums, they know the params the corals they have like, freindly, and some of them have over grown tanks needing stuff removed. LOL Check the clubs section under forums and see what you can find. HTH Steve

hello Joyce
I think it would be a good idea to post a thread in the live stock forum or in the general forum and ask for something you want because people here have great corals just one thing, make sure they don't give you something extra with it :p .
When i got my pulsing xenas the guy gave me green bubble and plants with it and so now i have green bubbles everywhere and plants growing on my rock, Thank you buddy :p .(I mean no offence because he was very nice guy, but i wish he wouldn't have given me his green bubbles and his plants too)
i don't know if you have been to this place it's called Blue Sierra its in 90 Front Street South, Issaquah, WA 98027 Phone: 425-392-5360 .
I have bought most of my stuff from them and so far so good.
There's also a fish store in Olympia called Extreme Marine phone: 306 956 7009
and there's a guy named Casey and he will order anything you want.
Anyways i hope this helps :)
Ohh ya, never buy corals or fishes from petco

Saltwater City in Bellevue is right off of 148th. You might try there. Most of my livestock is through them and they've all been healthy and happy.

Joyce - give our Sponsors a look. Quite a few sell corals, and have nice stock. Arizona Coral company, Premium Aquatics, Reefer madness, clams direct, etc etc......

Blue Sierra in Issaquah usually has some nice pieces, as well as Indoor Reef in Tacoma. I've never mail ordered any corals, so I have no opinion on that at all. But I would also do as above and post in the livestock forum.....you never know what you might find for a good price or even free sometimes.

Thanks. Blue Sierra and SaltwaterCity are the places that I go to. Wish there are more LFS closer :) Seems like they usually have much more choices in SPS instead.

As far as what I am looking for, just more softies like leather, fingers etc, something that not green. Everything I have so far are greenish (except Xenia). LPS like brain, bubble, torch, frogspawn, something relatively to keep.

I will try to post in the lovestock forum and see.

Thanks.

Joyce,

Being "across the Pond" from you... I know that The Shark Reef in Silverdale gets a very nice selection of Softies. I believe Eric is even expecting a shipment in on this upcomming Saturday. He has very reasonable prices as well.

I heard such good things from Shark Reef, just cant quite see driving to Silverdale just to check out what's available :( Same problem with Aquatic Dreams. I guess I am not dedicated enough :p

Someday if I pass by there.

Gabriela,

The Shark Reef is one of the Sponsors here on Reef Frontiers. Eric (the owner) and Wil (I think he lives there *grinz*) are both really good people.

Here is a link to Eric's website, the page showing where they are located. For those of you that aren't familiar with the Silverdale area, I recommend using Mapquest along with his address to get your full directions.

Thank you Ed i think the next time i buy something i'm gonna go and check out The shark reef since its only 1 hour and 21 mins away from here.

I've had good luck with www.seacrop.com They have lots of smaller stuff, rescued frags, aquacultered stuff, and good specials. They have a cool WYSIWYG section. I was very impressed with their operation, responsible husbandry practices, and varied selection. All of the frags I received opened up within 24 hours and have adapted nicely to my system. I plan on shopping there again.
