Turned the lights on my tank just now and found these floating in a long webby stringy mess coming from my PSP-covered rock o_O

Here's the short list of livestock in this tank, and tank specs:

4 gallon CAD aquarium

One juvenile oscellaris clown
2 nassarius snails
1 stomatella snail
3 or 4 small cerith snails
2 hermit crabs

I'm thinking they are snail eggs, maybe from the nassarius? But I'm not sure. It is all over the PSP rock, but the polyps are still coming out. I don't know if coral does that, either - would it be from the PSP??

If it's not/ doesn't look like snail eggs, what could it possibly be from? And how quickly do I need to remove these from my tank? They don't seem to be doing any damage, and am sure they will make for a tasty snack to my hermits, maybe even the clown, but it is unsightly - especially since it is right in the front of the tank.

Thoughts???

haha....I missed the links. Im betting snail eggs...;)

You know, I tried every single link from photobucket, and RF told me EVERY ONE of them was invalid >.< So, I went the old-fashioned way again. Let's hope these pics stick around this time lol.

I was thinking snail eggs too. From which snail, though? The nassarius, since the eggs are on a long slimy string thing?

I'm no help with the egg ID but for photo bucket just copy and paste the code. It works for me.

Edit

Be sure to do it directly in your post where you are writing the message.

Hmmm I'll try it again, but when I tried doing that before it didn't work. Maybe I missed a small part of the link or something.

My Nassarius snails lay eggs in kind of circular patterns from what I have seen. Usually about the size of a quarter or so. This long stringy pattern is new to me.

I have seen them in my tank before too. I think they are stomatella snail eggs.

I was wondering if they were stomatella eggs. That is the only kind I can't find an image of on google. All the other snails and critters in my tank do not produce eggs that way, according to google image search and web search. But would stomatellas release them in that webby substance? It looks like eggs that got caught in a vermetid's webbing, but I have no vermetids on that rock whatsoever. Really mind-boggling...

grody! I was going to ask if they were floating in the water column (attached to those snot boogers), or on the glass..

You need more predators in that nano!! Those eggs wouldn't last a minute in my tank!! hehe

They were floating attached to the nasty webbing crap. If they were on the glass, I'd know immediately it was a snail. I'm surprised my clown wasn't going crazy eating and nipping at them. He seemed disinterested until I started sucking them out with a turkey baster - then he starting picking at them. Silly fish :)
