Which way should I mount my Lights? MH on a 36x24...

I am guessing I should mount the bulbs parallel to the front of the tank...

I have a 36Lx24Wx20T tank and I am mounting 2 retro 175W MH into the canopy. They have individual spider reflectors. Logic and other setups would tell me to mount them parrallel to the front, but I am often wrong

Any body disagree with this? Why if so?

If standard spiders, mount them perpendicular in lieu of parallel for best coverage. I used to think along your thoughts until corrected.
