Let see.... Since RF first went down for the server transfer:

1. I stood 8 hours of watch (woo hoo! not!)

2. Found out my RBTA FINALLY split (Wah Hoo!!)

3. Bought some new livestock: Morish Idol, Sea Hare, Cleaner Wrasse, Turbo Snails

4. Got my oil change for $89!!! WTF!!!!

5. Friend who bought my 24G Aquapod bought my 55G setup (over $1300 in equipment) for $250.

So what has happened to you in that short time frame?

I went and got quoted to rehang my car door it's going to cost me 250$. Then went home and cried.

:smash:  :pray2: :help: :censored: :twitch: :frusty: :lalala: :pout:   :puke:

Ummm. It was a rough day...

I did however walk for the first time since my surgery, even though I have an elephants foot for a kneecap right now. Also bought the Haynes repair guide for the stang. Tried to find someone with a truck to load the 50b into so I could get it drilled but, it was a no go. So might post me a cl add. I tried to fit it in my hatch but I was off by about 1/4 inch to make it fit.

$89!!!!!!!!!!! Just because you didn't want oil on your hands when you reached in the reef!?!?!?!?!?!? Around here, It's only $20-29 at any jiffy lube or major chain of commercial mechanics.

I sat bored with my daughter because it was too cold to do anything outside, and spent a little more time on our local club website while she colored.

What year and whats wrong I was a Ford Tech not too long ago...

Jiffy Lube gets you in the door with those prices, i work at an auto repair shop and the only oil change we can do for our $29.99 is a car that takes 5 quarts of plain 5-10w/30 and a small filter (we use OE quality filters too, all filters are not created equally) . Trucks have more expensive filters, and most new cars take synthetic oils. European cars like BMW's, VW, Audi, and even a lot of new Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's from like 2005 on require special synthetic oils, a 5/30 synthetic in castrol or something like that does not meet the required specs that bmw and VW gives, we actually have to purchase a imported oil because European standards are much stricter then here in the states. Shoot, a toyota prius takes a synthetic 0w/20 that at my cost is $6 per quart. If you're curious call and ask a bmw dealer about a oil change on anything made in the last 6 years, it will be about $145 and if you want the maintenance light reset they charge another $75.... haha

Trust me, its worth it to take your car somewhere that you know will have the proper oil and filter for your vehicle.

1988 5.0 LX Shocks/struts.. Heater Core/Blower motor. Power steering hose. Few somewhat simple things that I'm going to attempt to do. I've so far done the ignition switch, a water pump, rear brakes, replaced some switches (rear defrost doesn't work. Can't find a scratch in thermal tape or w/e it is, switch doesn't stay down when I press it in either. So I assume that might be the issue?) Also did plugs/wires and pcv valve. Without the strong heat and such in the morning it's tough to drive the car haha.

$89 for a LOF isn't unheard of. Heck at the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership that I worked for it was fairly common to see a diesel rig or a car with full synth cost in excess of $100 for an LOF. Anyone ever change the oil on a Viper or a Crossifre? $$$ Or how about the diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee? Yep you got it $$$

Oh and while RF was down I decided to do some maintenance on the computer. Complete tear down and inspect. Replace all fans in the case. Repaired the video card, so I can maybe get another year or two out of it.

A common mod for the 5.0l is people blocking off the coolant in/out ports on the firewall. Check those. Otherwise heater cores usually only tend to leak and thats about it. Blower motor possible but would be obvious as would losing the vacuum line inlet to the switch that moves your vents to the defrost vent/floor/mix/body position.

More details would be needed.

And yes it was Pennsoil (sp?) full synthetic oil. I ususally use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic only.

A lack of heat or no heat issue can also be caused by an air pocket within the cooling system, Seen it before. Happens when you don't purge the cooling system and most of the newer vehicles have a cooling system bleed valve.

Why would you replace the T-stat if it is due to an air pocket? Makes no sence as you can introduce an air pocket into a cooling system with doing an r&r of a t-stat.

Hmmm... Why not just run the vehicle with the radiator cap off for about 10 minutes and see. Or find out if you have an air petcock/bleeder valve on the vehicle and open that until you have a nice steady stream of coolant.

Of course if you want a cool tool and spend some serious $$$ you could always buy one of these,

They are very cool and work awesome.

Another common problem with a blower motor not running at certain speeds can be the blower motor resistor.

Bad blower motor/resister. Common in 5.0Ls. I assume your vent selector dial still works? Meaning that you can switch the air outlet from your feet to the defroster and it works? That was a huge problem in one car I was looking at.
