Ever since upgrading from 55 to 75 and also upgrading my lighting to 2x250 MH, I have started to get this white slim/algae material on all of my glass and in my sump. It seems to just grow on the walls of the tank much like algae. It comes right off with a mag scaper. 1026 on the SG, 440 on calcium, 9 DKH on Alk and Mag is 1250. My nitrates have crepe up to about 10 ppm. Temps run 78-81. New sand bed when I switched out the tanks. Mixed reef with light bio load.

I would bet in my uninformed opinion is you are going thru a mini cycle. Try cutting back on your feeding alittle if it is a problem or just deal with it till your sand bed kicks in.

Looks like you need to do some cleaning, simple sucking it out until it clears out is the fastest solution along with water changes. I did two 30 gallon wc's this past weekend, because after the first i still had stuff needing to be removed or sucked out, really makes a difference, at times little weekly wc's need a boost by doing some bigger ones. Most of the time wc's are the answer, really it is the life of your tank & it supports everything growing in it!

Thanks

I do 10% wc every week, I also did one last night, I guess I will just keep them up and use a filter sock to help filter it out when I scape it, still never had anything like this before

I used to get that same stuff in your pics in my sumps and tank and never knew what it was  I just kept cleaning the glass and vaccuming it up and over time it eventually went away for whatever reason. :)

Not sure  I remember seeing it for a while all over my powerheads etc and then one day I just noticed I didn't see as much like before. Wish I could offer a bit more feedback, but honnestly can't remember(LOL) :)
