I just noticed that there are white spots on my Yellow eyed tang. kinda looks like salt. What is this and how do i get rid of it without hurting anything in my tank. He is acting normal.

preferrable you should do hyposalinity in a QT tank and NOT the main tank, provided you can catch the yellow tang from the main display tank. most inverts and corals will NOT survive a hypo treatment.

Good luck pal!. Takes a bit of work to do it right, but your fish will thank you and also later having an ich-free tank is a blessing! Watch the PH, it is the main thing besides nitrate buildup to be concerned over.

Lowering the salinity is the easy step and fairly forgiving. A couple months from now (all things well) take your time on the raising it back up.
