I have started dosing randy's two part. I am currently adjusting my ALK and am up to adding 10ml per day but I am pretty sure I am going to have to up the dose since my ALK is still going down. I add it all in one dose right now. I only have a PH test kit so I don't know specifics on the effect on my PH as I add the supplement. Should I add it on a drip. I am also curious how much other people are adding daily and what there bio loads are.

My demand is still pretty low. My biggest coral is frogspawn which is about the size of youth football. Other then that I have a mixed reef with some small SPS, LPS and softies.

Thanks for any inouts or advise.

Not using Randy's recipe, but think they're all the same. Just to give you some other numbers for comparison, I'm dosing 25ml each morning on my 46g. No drip, just pouring it in a high current area over about 10-15 seconds. Bioload is moderate (a few SPS, but mostly LPS... but growing well!) and a high coralline load. I maintain levels at around 420 Ca/8-9 dkh.

Looks like I will need to add about 50ml a day then LOL.

What are you using Kurt?

I dose Randy's 3-part (mg too). If you don't already have, I would strongly encourage you to get Alk, Ca & Mg test kits. Dosing without testing will eventually lead to problems!

I test MG CAL and ALK. All I ment when i said I only have a PH test kit is that I don't have a PH meter to monitor PH as I add ALK to my tank.

I only do the DIY three part because I would rather buy a coral instead of C-balance stuff. I spent like 30 bucks and have a supply of MG CAL AND alk to last me a long time.

I too use Randy's (3 parts) and for my 90, I use 300 to 350ml per day of each part. ( I diluted the mag to dose equally with the other two)
My sixty five uses about 175ml per day.
All other tanks use a little less than these two as the demand is lower for each of the other tanks.
Forgot to mention that I add these one at a time, but when I do add, I dump it all in the sumps each time and have no worry about changing the pH.

Rayjay,

How big are your corals and what are they? Just a general over view like huge SPS dominated monter tank or llike me a mixed reef with some 4 or five sps about 4 to five inches and some larger LPS and softies mixed in.

Thanks NicK

My reef tanks are LPS dominated with few softies. I keep no sps but have a huge green hydnaphora that some call an sps but isn't.
Most corals run between 7 to 12 inchs across the inflated polyp. I keep cutting pieces off an selling them so they don't interfere with each other too much. Some that don't kill each other are allowed to touch but most are separate by an inch or more. Zoa's and acans are smaller but the acans are growing and the zoa's spread across the live rocks.
I don't keep sps as all I use for lighting is normal output fluorescent, but that is sufficient for my sebae anemone, my clams (a 5" crocea and a 13" shell length squamosa), and all of my LPS's.
