I was just wondering what y'alls opinions were on what hotel to stay in. There are SO many nice hotels there ;) I want a place that's really happening. :) My husband and I are looking to head over for a weekend in the near future.

I have stayed at the Venitian, Bellagio, and the MGM Grand. My favorite?
The Venitian, but I think that was because my boss paid for the whole thing. If you are on a budget then the hotels about 2 blocks east of the strip are still very clean and nice

Not really on a budget... The airfare is REALLY reasonable, and we got a nice tax return this year ;)

Krish, We were looking at maybe going to the Bahamas this May. It's a toss up between Cozumel and somewhere in the Bahamas.

I have stayed at the Rio, its ok, not really all that. My main overiding memory is purple everywhere.
I visited the Veneitian. It was very nice. Didnt stay there though.
 
For those on a budget.... we found the cheapest is the rear of the Westward Ho.

(No joke, did a search on Alaska or Southwest vacations a number of years ago, and that was the cheapest - their rear units, I guess the original building or something)

PS We stayed at Treasure Island that trip... :)
 
My favorite for this would have to be mandalay bay. They have BIG fish tanks there ;)

I'll second that...Mandalay Bay....very cool, and has the best resturants...

ahh Ive stayed at
westward ho rear (you get what you pay for)
monte carlo (nice but lacking)
tropicana ( ok room's alittle small)
circus circus (well once again you get what you pay for)
new york new york. ( the best hotel room ive seen there yet my room was in the empire state building I believe Looking right out over the rollor coaster!!!)

anything new is usually a good bet. all the new hotels have alot to offer!!

manaday bay nice tanks they have the shark reef. in the tank they have a arch way that you walk through the middle of the hammerhead shark tank very very cool!!!!

new york new york is one of my all time favorite hotels there.

luxor has really cool decor and the elevators are nuts they go up the sides of the pyrimed just feels crazy not going straight up or down but kinda sideways

excaliber is just older nice middle age feel

mgm has real lions a must see (and a nice slot machine that let loose of $750 hehehehe)

mirage has alot to offer(white tigers I believe they have a really nice tank there too in the lobby I cant really remember where I saw that tank) but it is ageing pretty good

bellagio is the most expensive high roller casino there IMO

paris and the venitian are very very nice new hotels they have alot more to look at than just machines/tables

well I know I missed a few but thats my recap of my 5 or 6 visits to vegas
 
We stayed at the MGM Grand when we went there to get married a couple years ago. It was definitely a nice hotel! We went to see literally every fish tank we heard about.

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay was definitely a fun tour. If you keep fw fish at all you'll definitely enjoy that tour. Not cheap, and the acrylic is too hazed already to get decent pictures, but definitely something you shouldn't miss. There was supposed to be another tank somewhere in the hotel that we missed, but by the time we'd walked all the way up the strip that day, I didn't care about finding it ;).

The Mirage has the dolphin tanks. Nuff said ;). You get to be very close to the dolphins and watch their behavior. Try not to go at 3 o'clock in the afternoon in August though, it's all outdoors, hehe. They had a big tank in their lobby here too, but it was down for repairs while we were there.

Caesar's Palace has a BIG tank behind their check in counter, and another one in one of the bars that's full of seahorses and leafy dragons. It's a big round column tank. I spent an hour there watching them!

Splurge one day and go to the buffet at the Bellagio. The glasswork in the lobby ceiling is another must see thing. Not something you're going to have added to your home, but wow, is it cool! The buffet was amazing, prime rib and kobe beef and tons of fresh seafood (I know, hide your eyes reefkeepers ;) ). Definitely an experience worth the money!

The Orleans gets really high ratings and is supposed to be off the strip, so a bit cheaper, but with better payouts. I know when I was planning the trip I did quite a bit of research on payouts, but we honestly didn't have time for much gambling in the 5 days. You can definitely stay busy there if you set your mind to it! Hope you have fun :).

You cant't go wrong with any of the following:

Bellagio
Mandalay Bay
Four Seasons (It's part of Mandalay Bay)
MGM (Too big for my taste, but great restaurants)
Venetian
Paris
Wynn

That's my A-list as a local.
 
well it looks like I have a lot of options here :) Any shows y'all would recommend?? Besides the cirque shows which are most likely booked....
 
Try Mystere at Treasure Island. It's over ten years old nad sometimes not as heavily booked as other Cirque shows. It's also my favorite. Also try La Rev at The Wynn. I have heard they are having a tough time getting audience.

Forget Blue Man Group unless you are extremely intoxicated or otherwise under the influence.
 
ya charlie no coffee machines in the Straoshpere either. I did however find a Starbuks in the hotel where I believe I paid 5.25 for a double mocha shot. No wonder they dont have coffeee machines must be in cahooots with Starbucks :)
