i dont know if any of have been into wildside latly, or even if you have ever been there but i am very disipointed in them. when i first started going there(about a year ago)they were the cheapest people around and had a 7 day garantee. i was probly one of there most loyal customer and woudl easily spend over 100dollars every time i went in there. every one at the store even knows us by name. but the last few months, there prices have just been going through the roof. they wanted 49.99 for a 1" blue tang, and 39.99 for a 2-3" naso. i ask for some more prices, but hey all seemed to prevail high. i dont know if anybody really cares, but i just had to get this off my chest. wildside was my favorite....but money makes the world go round.

i think the incress probly has something to do with the world.

lol

but this is the way i figer it,

its geting harder for them to go out and get shipments of sea ceatures, its costing more to get them here, more to maintain em,+ then you add gas price of delivery, and overhead, thats why they have to charge more.

if they dont charge more there not makeing enough for the bad azz car siteing out side. then well you get it.

its like this with everything.

I don't think those prices are that bad. Here in the northeast you would pay $49-$59 for the blue tang and the naso would be about the same as you are paying or a little bit more. Also, what are the quality of the fish, that makes a big difference also. you may get some cheaper but are they in bad shape or infected with alot of other problems?

i guess i am just used to mario where 1" blue tangs are $15. it is just that, about two months ago, it would have been 3/4 of that cost and the other LFS around it didnt go up.

i wish i could find blue tangs for $15..they are between $50-100, depending on size, at my lfs...that sounds like a good price for the naso as well...

Hey Augustus I hear you man.
I use to shop there a lot too...
I bought a 8x6'' green hammer from them back in the day for $29
now they want $59 for a 1-2'' small head of them.

but I think that she started to catch on to the other fish stores prices and started to adjust...

Never been there, but I suspect they're realizing they can't stay in business (for whatever reason) unless they raise prices. They're probably going to be gone in 6 months.

this store wont be closing any time soon, they carry many different animals from dogs/cats to sugargliders, wallaby and all kinds of reptiles, they make tons of money, they are very successfull.. I know the owner and they are doing very well with the store...

Matt

Do sugargliders need low or high pH?

Well if they're selling all kinds of animals that will probably keep them in business. Maybe the fish department isn't turning a profit? :)

What you need to understand in this area a retail buisiness has a overhead of about 16$ a square foot per month. At only 2K sw ft thats 32K in overhead alone. Thats a tough nut to crack, nobody is geting rich.
