will a sump help with brown algae growth?

If by safeway you mean metro lol I might be able to do something but I will have to look into it. When I was still living at home I used well water and never had any problems. The well was a direct line from a spring with a lot less crap in it then this city water has

Yeah, whatever store Glacier will work $0.30 a gallon not bad and they don't charge tax like the lfs

Do you have astrea snails? They do wonders in my tank.... maybe it could help you too?
