Montipora Keeper
Back in September, I finally returned to reefing after a six year break. So I set up the 30-gallon AIO tank that I designed for my Senior Design Project in the final year of earning my Mechanical Engineering Bachelors Degree back in 2003.
The tank is a 24" square with a corner cut off to make a pentagon. It is 14" tall and it is eurobraced all around. In the front, it has a small 18-gallon display section. In the rear of the tank, I have a 6-gallon sump and a 6-gallon refugium. I designed this tank before commercially produced AIO tanks became popular.
My tank is doing well and has filled up quickly. I have three frag racks that are also full. So now I am thinking of upgrading to a larger tank. This tank sits on a 36" X 36" stand which was built for my large cube tank which is in storage. I also have a 36" square canopy and a 55-galon custom sump inside the stand which could be plumbed to a new tank. I am not ready to set up my 155-gallon cube, but I would like something bigger than my current tank. I have a 36" PFO dual halide/dual VHO fixture.
That covers the background information. I am open to replacing my current tank with a larger one that will fit on my stand. My stand has raised trim around the periphery, so I am limited to a tank width across the front of 36 1/8". A 36" X 24" footprint would be nice. So would a 30" X 30" square footprint.
I want a reef ready tank so I can easily plumb my sump. Any recommendations for my next tank? Can you recommend any local tank builders?
Thank you,
Gary
