 I had a small frag(2X2") with 4-5 heads of xenia in my small 20 gallon tank. It was doing ok. Then it got knocked off the top of my LR and it took me a day or 2 to realize it and get it out of the bottom of the tank behind the LR> When i did retrieve it.....it looks about ready to turn all slimey. it didn't get near any other corals but i do have a sally lightfoot crab and a red and another green mithrax crabs. Could 1 of them hurt it? And should i leave it in my tank? If it gets really slimey what should I do?

Thanks,

Dave

2 & 1/2 weeks to MAC in Richland!

I don't have much advice for you. I let an unreachable detached frag be consumed by my anxious clean-up crew once it began to die without consequence in my 46gal. I CAN offer you a pulsing Xenia frag should you be around the Eastside.

If it looks like it is surrounded by a slime cacoon I would say its not going to recover and should be tossed. Slime is also a defence mechanism so if it not to much and it goes away that was the reason.

if i disturb my xenia such as when i trim it it'll often time slime up for a day or so. my pom pom xenia in my tank is like a weed. i have to trim it about every 2 weeks due to the fast growth. it seems almost impossible to kill in my tank.
