Yasha Hase Shrimp Goby

Do any Members have a Yasha Hase Shrimp Goby - Stonogobiops yasha and a Randall's Pistol Shrimp - Alpheus randalli combo??
When i start my reef tank i wanted some unsual live stock and these seem pretty neat just would like some info or expert opinons on them .Thanks ...Jeff :exclaim:

Stonogobiops are fairly easy species to care for, though my luck with them so far has been lacking. Up until 2 days ago I had a Stonogobiops Nematodes (Hi-Fin Banded Goby) and the Alpheus Randalli, and they're a great combination. No special care is needed... they eat pretty much whatever you put in the tank. Unfortunately, something scared the nematodes into the overflow, where it was pulled into my Mag5 CLS that draws from within the overflow box... so, yesterday we went and picked up a Stonogobiops Yasha, and are hoping that it will fill in where the nematodes left off.
We also had another Yasha Haze in the past, but lost track of it when we upgraded our tank from a 55g to a 120g... we also had another Stonogobiops nematodes a few months back, and it also decided to take the swim through the Mag5 (though on the old tank... it was the return pump from the sump then).
Let's hope I have better luck this time.

From my experience, though, the Yasha tends to be a bit more skittish than the nematodes, and takes longer to get used to new environments.

Tanks for reply Reefer Addict I hope with my all-glass they would not be able to get thru the over flows? my tank is 29" deep do you think the gobie would swim that hi? I just naturally thought they would be bottom dwellers?? Like the name says Im just starting out...Jeff

Yes, they're bottom dwellers, but when frightened they tend to try to swim 'up and out'... just make sure you have a good lid or canopy, or it may end up carpet surfing. You shouldn't have to worry about it getting through the overflow teeth, though it may jump over and into it anyway.

Wow... 29" deep is an ear dunker.

Second time was a charm

Well my first attempt didn't work but buy this i think it may be a success they are doing very good together and i hope to post more shots of these two in the future. Very hard to get them to stay togethr in my 150 Gallon open sea but i got them to set up shop in my front corner of my tank.. Talk about beginner luck

Thanks Nikki & Elmo I think I got real lucky with these two before I put them in my tank I put them in the same shipping bag for about 1 hour continually adding my tank water every 15 min 1/2 oz. Well I then dropped them in the corner and lost them for about 2-3 days then they set up shop with these little guys you just never know ..jeff

Now that is neat!!!!!! I've got a blackray shrimp goby with a little shrimp. I've got them in my fuge. They were camped out right by the glass for about a month, but I guess it was a little to busy for them there. They moved back underneath a big clump of caulerpa, and now the only time I see them is about once a day.
It is still really neat to watch the shrimp build their tunnel tho. They are really industrious little critters

Old thread Diffrent Tank

Do any Members have a Yasha Hase Shrimp Goby - Stonogobiops yasha and a Randall's Pistol Shrimp - Alpheus randalli combo??

I have the same old set but i came accross this @ our LFS and had to try them in my 29 gallon nano tank enclosed a couple of shots they all three set up shop right in from of my tank. I do belive the shrimp are a male and female they seem to get along but they are small. Hopefully a little easyer to watch the other pair i have in my 150 I rarely see do to the Tangs and other fish scaring them ...Jeff

Thread Update !

Well I haven't been watching these guys for some time they have been out of sight and off my mind well my wife caught them out the other day and low and behold not only do i have them with my (Cryptocentrus cinctus)Yellow Watchman Goby But you will see in the shots 2 of My shrimp have mated up the Male is the smaller one and the Female hase very dark red eggs under her We tried to get a great shot of her Eggs but she was really wanting to stay in the Big cave anyway this is what we took

Thanks Krish & Gabby yea the snails and more so the hermits seem to get close to their little Den they leave the snails alone but when the Hermits stray close by the little pinchers go into action! It would be nice to see if the shrimp eggs would make it? This tank they are in is only a 20 gallon tank that is hooked up to my 150 gallon reef tank I am afraid the Corals, Co-pods and the protien skimmers would get them all :doubt:
