yellow tail & blue damsels?

Hi again, I am getting ready to swich to a larger tank that is ready and cycled in. I currently have a 29 gallon the houses 2 yellow tail damsels 1 blue damsel 2 clowns 1 mandarin goby 1 emerald crab and several snails,hermits and an accidental camel shrimp plus quite a few corals. my question is I'm not sure I want the damsels and the camel shrimp to make the transfer what do you think? I know the damsels can become territorial and the camel is not 100% reef safe but he has yet to cause a problem but if I did transfer these guys and they do become a problem it would be a pain getting them out. I want a peaceful tank.:?: Thanks Cindy

Damsels are smart and fast little devils. If you're over 50% sure you do not want them in your new tank, then I wouldn't move them into it. As for the camel shrimp, I haven't had one, so hopely someone with experience with them will chime in. Good luck!

I would leave out the damsel and camel shrimp. The damsels are just too aggressive once established and the camel shrimp from what I heard wil eat some LPS.

Yellow tailed damsels tend to be a lot less aggressive than the damsel norm. I've got one now, and had one in my last system and have never had any problems with them; in fact my experience has been that they have been amongst the best behaved fish in my systems. That's just my experience though. Your concern is justified though as they are a real pain to catch in a reef tank.

Thanks I really do like the look of the yellow tails and would like to keep them but there's that BIG! BUT what if stuff in my head.I still have a bit of time to decide and I can always leave the smaller tank set up as a fowlr hmm just a thought...Cindy

I took my yellow tail damsel out of my display thinking all damsels were bad. But missed the little guy so added him back in and even added a second one. Nice colorful small fish. I never had any issues with aggresiveness with them, even when I added the second one.

Camel shrimp I would not transfer, they can't be trusted with corals.

I got all of them and black velvet. Never buy a black one, that fish likes to dominate the tank and during feeding time it appears to own the tank. Sometimes I have to split feeding so other fish can eat too. Keep the yellow tail, it's a well behaved damsel. The other ones are good for cycling the tank only. As much as I like the blue damsel because the color looks awesome especialy during night time viewing I wouldn't recommend these. I have had all 3 for almost a year but I'm about to transfer to a new tank and only yellow tail will move to it. Speaking of damsels, if anyone wants the blue or black velvet for tank cycling or even feeding a eel or other carnivorous fish, let me know, I will give them for free and will be ready for pickup in about a 1-2 weeks when my new tank is ready.

I have a yellow tail damsel iin my 100 gal DT and he shows aggression towards my sailfin tang, but occasionally the tang shows him who is boss.
