Yellow Tang

Steve,

I woosed out. I have let my fish be because of the net thing and the additional stress that it may impose. I have tried to keep my hands, etc. out of the tank and give the fish time. It is kind of strange gut feeling I had because he has been active and eating well. I have to say in the midst of all the panic I added 4 cleaner shrimp. Now after 1 week and my tang is just getting fatter and looking even better. The BI is definitely going away.

I see him stopping in the middle of the shrimp and they just groom the heck out of him. Could they really erradicate the problem totally or do i dare mess with him on a dip? I just am afraid of doing more harm than good.

Again, it is a gut instinct and I am really baffled that maybe nature is the best bet in this case.

I planned to get the shrimp in there latter too.

thanks,
Brian

if the tang is looking healthy and fat, it shouldn't be much of a problem..a fish is going to get stressed from being moved anyway.just try not to get its caudel spikes tangled in the net..i have done FW dips on several of my tangs....it got rid of the problem in about a week..i wouldn't rely on the shrimp as a cure..the dips will get rid of the problem

FW dips will not rid a fish of C. irritans nor is it likely the shrimp will either. At best the shrimp may help to keep the parasite at bay. While it is a possibility the problem may "peter out"in time, the odds are not on your side.

So to dip or not to dip???? That is the question. More harm or good. Seems like the fish will never be erradicated from BI unless he takes the tip and does the dip?????

yes, go ahead with the series of dips..i think Steve got the post mixed up with another one, unless i did:confused: ...your tang doesn't have white spots does it??? from your initial post, it seems it has tubellarium worms (black ich)..the FW dips will rid the fish of them...Steve has helped me through this before, he just got the posts mixed up

Thanks Ron. No white just black ich. I have 3 other tangs too. They are powder Blue, and 2 hippos. None of the others are affected. Kind of strange too but all the fish are doing very well. I will do the dip.

you might want to take a close look at the other tangs...if one has it, the others could very likely have it..the blue could make it hard to see

So tell me did you find out how to remove the black spot yet? Because its real simple,it looks like you are going from Z to B instead of A to B. If you did i love to learn something new its always good for the head.:)
