i have a salt water master kit and it's reading 10ppms and i have live rock,fish,and corals with invert is this leve to high

Most hobbyists try and reach 0ppm of nitrates when keeping corals. Can you tell us a little more about your system, and perhaps we can figure out where your source of nitrates is coming from (apologies in advance for all the questions)? Is the test kit new or old? What size is your system? What do you use for filtration? How many pounds of live rock....substrate in the tank? Do you use a skimmer? How many fish? Do you have any algae problems?

i have a protien skimmer about 40 lbs live rock 40lbs of live sand and crushed shell
44gal tank have several hard and soft corals 1 tomato,1chromies,1sand gobie,1two stripe dansel, 1coral bandet, 1horseshoe crab , and 1 purple lobster no alge problem
