i just ordered one of both and gave my corals their first feeding today.
i gave the recommend dosage of each, soaked in water, mixed and then added to my tank. the corals looked like they were getting hit with a sand storm. most closed their polyps up completely and didn't open till the "dust had settled."

am i feeding wrong?
is there a better way?
is this stuff any good?

thanks

what kind of corals are you feeding this ?
did you turn off your pumps? sometimes is better when you turn off the pumps and skimmer so the food doesn't get waisted.

i have everything mushrooms, leathers, zoas, xenia, gsp, kenya, frogspawn, hammer, slimer, montipora, rics. all kinds of stuff.... and no i forgot to turn off the equipment. .... I'll try that next time so they don't get pelted.. but wouldn't this just sink to the bottom or is it buoyant(sp)

(hi gab:))

I think you should turn off the skimmer, and dont turn off all of the pumps, just some of them.

What brand are you using. DT's phyto is small particles as is Cyclopeze zoo. I just hold the Cyclo stick into the tank for about 15 sec while some melts off. The DT's I do 1.5oz every other day for 75gal. I leave pumps on, but skimmer off. You need the pumps on to keep it suspended and to get it around to the corals. Mine never close and actaully extend a little further for an hour or two. My sun coral immediately opens when zoo is fed. My guess is you have some other brands than these, and it sounds like you needed to defrost something frozen? Just not sure what you are dealing with???

Haven't had as much luck with powdered as with live or frozen. Use it anyway just because I have it. Kent Marine makes some bottled stuff such as Zoaplex that seems OK (seems mostly cyclops). For larger coral foods, I love frozen Cyclopeze, as the fish also enjoy eating it. Have not yet tried the coral frenzy powder that was passed out at the frag swap. Just got my live green Phyto, will be bowl feeding my clams now. Maybe will give a squirt to my scallop too to appease the scallop gods :>)

it's two little fishes brand.

hmm definetly turn your skimmer off, try feeding them with a turkey baster.
i have heard that very few corals eat phytoplankton and that most of the corals we keep eat zooplankton.
I'm not sure of the food you got but i hope it gives you good results :)

Adam, I have been told that the DTs phyto is awesome for little clams. If you want to sell it LMK. (try cyclopeze, what your corals pass on, your fish gobble like candy)

i think if i was you, i'd sell both and get me a coral frenzy, i have heard good things about it :p .
About cyclo peeze, only your frogspawn would it eat it i believe because the other fishes won't .
Truthly your lights and your fish poop is all you need :p:D
