    The tank swap has begun.

I have been talking about a tank swap for a year now. Wanted to add a closed loop and Ocean Motions but thought it would be too disruptive to the reef. I bought a used 125 acrylic to replace the current 100. Had Clear Fab add another overflow and fill and buff out a serious flaw in the front of...

To drill or not to drill bottom for closed loop

Krish, Art the loclines hooked up to an Oceans Motion? If so, looks like the 3/4" loclines are not hurting the flow any

To drill or not to drill bottom for closed loop

Well the plumbing is done and no leaks. Gonna let it run in the garage for a week or so just be be sure all is well. Sure got a lot of flow now. The fish are gonna get a workout.

To drill or not to drill bottom for closed loop

Well thanks for all the encouragement. Let the drilling begin! There were already two bulkheads on the back near the bottom I was considering using, but will now just plug them. Drilling the bottom is definitely the best way to go for ease of maintaing the tank. The tank had an 8 way OM before...

To drill or not to drill bottom for closed loop

It is acrylic so drilling is not an issue with tempering

To drill or not to drill bottom for closed loop

I have an acrylic 125 I am adding an 4 way Oceans Motion on a dart for a CL. Two outlets will be in upper outer corners. Want to put two outlets in bottom front corners. Looked at running 1" pvc on bottom of tank, but it is too thick. Ideally want to drill the bottom, but have some concerns...

    Look what we found

I found a couple of babies like that a few years ago. They disappeared after a week or so. I was so sad.

Has anyone tried a Herbie overflow?

Thanks for all the info. I already have two overflow boxes in the corners. One is drilled for the bulkhead the other is now and needs to be drilled. Just need to work out how to put two drains in them. It is acrylic Mike.

Has anyone tried a Herbie overflow?

I am setting up a new 125. I have a durso in my current 100 and it works pretty flawlessly except it still has some noise/ I am considering using the Herbie method in the new tank. Wondering if anyone here has tried it and what you experience is. Herbie controls water level in the overflow with...

My wife thought the same thing when I told her you turned down my offer. My dad who was 85 at the time called to ask if I thought it was go good idea to buy a new Lincoln town car because his old one needed tires and shocks.

Need to borrow some water storage container please

I have a 100 gallon rubber made tank that has only been used for reefs. Not close to granite falls though. Also have a 30 gal cylinder I used to use for ro water.

Anyone ever put a drain on their tank for water changes?

I thought about that, but it would not allow me to suck off the junk on the bottom.

Anyone ever put a drain on their tank for water changes?

I have a siphon type gravel vacuum I use to clean the gravel and do water changes. It would have a short hose that would screw on to a 90 on the inside of the bulkhead

Anyone ever put a drain on their tank for water changes?

I'm plumbing a new 125 tank and considering adding a bulkead about halfway down for water changes. Would have threads inside to screw on a gravel siphon and hose or a cap for safety. On the outside would be a valve and threads to run a hose to a drain. I hate the whole siphon thing. Any...

Need to borrow a stand if possible

Hey all, I am finally getting ready to swap tanks. Need to set up my 125 in the garage to plumb it, then swap with the 100 upstairs. Anybody got a stand thats 60 x 18 to hold a 100 gallon I could use for a few weeks? Or a junker you want to get rid of?

Has anyone had clown eggs hatch in their main tank?

Mine used to hatch all the time, but never survived the day.
