    MrGone's fish tank room

Some updates we rearranged the rocks in the 210g and got some chairs for the room. We still need to tile the floor, build the cabinets and finish the lighting but getting closer. here is the other side of the room, I made a nice little work area to help keep track of things. Computer...

What salt mix are SPS-ers here using?

 I already burned through the bucket of Bio-Actif, I liked it but I'm not sure if its worth the extra $20+ more a bucket over Pro-Reef. Regardless it will be a while before I need to make that decision again.

    MrGone's fish tank room

nooooooooooo! haha I really only wanted to have one nice display tank, it is still a bit strange to me to have so many tanks but it is pretty cool. What it came down to is that I love angelfish as much as I love corals (ok might like the reef a little more :o). I had angels in my SPS reef and...

    MrGone's fish tank room

I went with my Dad to QT Aquariums in Seattle and ended up picking up a couple things, they had a large green carpet anemone and a pair of bi-color angels (I only wanted one but have a thing about fish pairs that I can't resist). I'll try to snap a pic of the angel tank soon, it doesn't have...

    Clams moving!

I'm still new to keeping clams but I found this pretty exciting. I know that in the ocean they live in huge groups, I have a 5x12" tile 1/4" below the substrate. I had them spaced 3-4" apart in a line so they covered about 8-9" total. Over the course of a week they moved closer together...

    MrGone's fish tank room

Thanks! I also mounted a monitor to the wall under the cabinet tonight, I need to finish building a computer and wire it all but this will be for the myreef software.

Ok so I finally mounted the metal halide ballasts, still not finished wiring but this works for now.

    back filter vs protein skimmer

I think you would benefit from a protein skimmer and the backfilter (assuming a hang-on back power filter thing like an aquaclear) is probably unnecessary (but can provide nice mechanical filtration). I would increase water changes to handle the nitrates in the mean time. I know there are a few...

    Mr Gone's filters

Everything came from Steve's LEDs, there are the cool whites on the tank, mid-day sun on the refugium and cool blues on the tank.

There are some more pictures of the sump system for this tank in Jason's (CFI) forum here http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f116/mr-gones-filters-57109/ edit: apparently I forgot I posted pics of the LED build there, sorry for double posting :tape:

    MrGone's LED build complete w/pics

Ok I just figured out how to do the multiple reply thing :D The tank is 84x24x32 (LxWxH), The invoice from Steve's LEDs is $1,158.57, figure in another $40-50 for thermal compound, wire, the patch panel, RJ-45 connectors and screws, etc. Thanks Krish, it took quite a bit of time but I'm pretty...

    MrGone's LED build complete w/pics

Thank you! we were actually kind of discouraged by the rock scape, sometimes it seems like it just goes together perfectly and other times it just seems like it isn't and that's how this one felt :-/ Sometimes these big tanks make me miss nano's lol. It was really nice to hear that, thank you!

Now that Ice Cap is gone, My ballast is now going, grrrrrrrr.

I know I'm a bit late but I'm a big fan of the Lumateks, although honestly I wonder how much of a difference there is. They are probably pretty similar to Galaxy and honestly I always thought they were pretty similar to IceCap/CoralVue but with different connectors. I have six Lumatek 250w...

    Cost of CO2 refills

I figured I'd post to give people an idea in the future for the cost of CO2 refills I paid $17.38 after fees and taxes to have a 10lb aluminum tank refilled at Central Welding in Issaquah today. Also you can opt to either have the bottle refilled or exchanged.

    Phosban Reactor for Carbon

check out the bulk reef supply dual reactor, I have a phosban 150 and 550 and two of the BRS duals and the BRS reactor is my favorite, quite a bargain, very complete and easy to setup. Phosban reactors are better for hanging on the side of tanks/sumps though. Technically GFO has a tendency to...
