when mixing salt water, will the SG go up as salt dissolves? just wondering what to expect, I'll know shortly, by testing repeatedly until water clears.

I've got an aquarium fixture for 2 200w compact fluorescents with mogul base and 2 96w PC bulbs. Where do you get the cf's like that and what color temp?? 10000k seems to be hard to find.

I have read that somewhere, might not introduce a second one, they say 2 of them get real playful together.

    Bio Load

I understand why we don't want to add too many fish at once. But what affects on the bio load and bacteria colony do the corals have. I wonder how much coral, ie. zoos and mushrooms a guy would want to add per week? or 2 ? so as not to overload the bacteria and crash the tank.

LET THERE BE LIFE... today I got a bunch of snails 20 of them some nerites and something else the guy at barrier suggested. I also got a firefish goby and a scooter blenny, from another store. The firefish was suggested by a friend and should be fine, but the scooter blenny/ dragonette probably...

    cycling

Yes I get that, but if my LR is not ready to filter then wouldn't the amonia kick start the cycling process? I don't mean to be thick headed but I want to be sure I understand the process.

    cycling

nice test I may try that, if not ready the amonia will still be present in 12 hrs? then the added amonia should jump start the cycle huh?

In a new reef, with cured/seasoned LR from a long running reef, how many days with amonia 0, nitrate 0 and nitrite 0 do we say good enough? If I see no spike how long before adding a fish or 2 and a cleaner crew?
