    Anemone & Fish Compatability

Will non-reef safe angels, triggers, etc. eat or nip bubble tip anemone's? It may sound stupid, but won't the sting keep them away? -chris

    Anemone Tank Help

Thanks for the response. I was thinking of a large octagon (60+ gallons) or cube (60+). Does anybody have any experience keeping GBTA and RBTA together in one aquarium? I would prefer the color contrast of the two but fear chemical warfare. -chris

    Anemone Tank Help

I have a mixed reef tank (softies, lps, sps, anemone's). Well after a year and a half of operation I sort of want to change directions as such a hodgepodge of creatures creates obvious problems. I figured either an anemone tank or pure sps tank. I thought the anemone tank would be much easier...

Is Magnesium Cloride supposed to be green?

Magnesium Iron Silicate (Chrysolite) is green and the most likely source. But there could also be nickel chloride or cupric chloride in small amounts, however these would make the stuff worse than baking soda.

    Safe acro crab ??????

Cool. I have the same crab and it seems to mind it's own business. Sort of a cool addition in my opinion. -chris

    Post Up Your Favorite Behaviors

I had a blenny that liked to hang out in the algae clip. He would sit in it all day just watching the fish swim around. Then he would get agitated when fish pulled seaweed out of the clip because his home would be rocking like crazy. He even slept in it at night. -chris

    nemos home is moveing

My bubble tip hides under the rock prior to splitting, it apparently is really shy. It could be with all the extra food it is preparing to split. Or is could just be irritated and decided to move.

    DHL complaint/vent

I will never ship with DHL. They have twice delivered items to the wrong address with a signature. Sorry about all the trouble. I tried using the kinko's thing, but you have to be careful. In my area they deliver to the houses first and then drop off at the kinko's. Not sure why, but that...

    RBTA or RLTA?

I don't think breed of BTA has anything to do with the bubbles. I had an anenome split and gave the clone to a friend. It has been a year since then and mine is now about 3x the original size with no bubbles. His is still the original size with huge bubbles. Not sure why? Could be lighting...

    U tube

Tap plastics has clear pipe, you could have opaque elbows? There is a minimum of 6' on online orders, but you may be able to buy 12" at one of their stores? There is one in Bellevue and Seattle, or try ebay. -chris

    U tube

I built an extra out of spare pvc parts I had. Two elbows and about 12" of pipe, costs less than a buck. -chris

    RBTA wasting away

So, I don't know if I jinxed myself or what but I noticed my calcium reactor was not dripping into my tank. So, I unplugged the inlet and purged a good size stream into the sump, not thinking, and immediately my xenia, gsp, and bta shriveled up and look horrible. I shut off the reactor and...

    RBTA wasting away

I was under the impression that they need to be fed occasionally. I know mine was pretty small when I first got it and then grew fast when fed mysis shrimp 1 to 2 times a week. I then backed off and feed some mysis every other month. The growth stopped, but it seems happy. I was just...

    RBTA wasting away

What are you feeding it? It could be your water is too clean? Just an idea. When my xenia and anenome are really happy my sps grows slow and when my sps grows slow they seem to be happier. I have just observed this during my initial set-up and then after a recent die off due to the power...

How long can I go without...

I sort of screwed up my skimmer when putting in a refugium. I have gone weeks without it working for the last 8-9 months. My nitrates stay at zero though, probably the cheato in the refugium. I keep it running more to keep the water aerated. -chris

looking for a GOOD digital camera

I have the 7.2 megapixel sony cybershot. It works great. I like the sony cameras because they have the fastest shutter of the point and shoots. Which makes it nice when taking pictures of fish. -chris

In Wall - going for it! - seeking your ideas/feedback/advice

I agree, trust the gut. The person I talked to bought it at a show up here and I saw some pictures that looked awesome. Plus I am a fan of the glass tanks. Sorry for the misdirection, and good to know they don't come to Seattle anymore. -chris
