    ro/di question

My 2 cents... Here in Virginia Beach we have a local company that sets up a DI unit at your house, call in for monthly meter readings, and the cost is a flat 13 cents a gallon - no equipment rental. They change the media when indicated depending on your usage. Works GREAT, LFS use it, yada yada...

    Anemone on the move.

5.5 - 6 watts per gallon - buy the best you can afford to achieve the lighting requirements - personally, I would go for a used lighting set up and go for the better lighting - less cost. The forums are full of lights that people bought because of the price and found they are not sufficient to...

    A question of ethics

I am not usually a proponent of more rules and regulations - though I have testified to the VA Senate regarding animal rights laws. The problem is when a living thing is treated as property instead of the respect that should be afforded to all living organisms. I feel strongly that if we take...

    A question of ethics

I agree whole heartedly in Capitalism, but do feel there are different ethics that should be applied to live organisms vs. a tire. Puppy mills are a prime example - is it OK to breed an animal to DEATH in substandard conditions to make a profit? I say no.

    A question of ethics

Brutus What kind of crab is Brutus? I have one I got has a hitchhiker the size of a small button - put him in the fuge. He is now in a tank dedicated just to him, his body is about the size of a 50 cent piece. He is quite the character and has a voracious appetite!:)

I'd feed it a little everyday. Nothing too big.

    Anemone on the move.

Feed it heavily and do bigger weekly water changes while it is under inadequate lighting. Are you running a skimmer?

    Great food mix!

No way - they wouldn't dare! Those are the major food groups, right?

    Pappone vs. Coral Frenzy

What particle size(s) do you recommend for sps food?

    Pappone vs. Coral Frenzy

OK, let's start with coral frenzy claims and phosphate levels.... please elaborate. Secondly, in regards to the sugar in the pappone, what are the drawbacks that outweigh the cleaner tank?

    Pappone vs. Coral Frenzy

I apologize that my initial question wasn't as clear as it should have been... Which is the better food for SPS, LPS, softies, and nems? My concern is primarily in the sugar added to the pappone. Is it any different than a child choosing cake over vegetables?

    Pappone vs. Coral Frenzy

I am reading about a million threads on pappone, I know about coral frenzy. They are both coral foods, how are there no comparison? What does each address differently in a coral's nutritional needs?

    Pappone vs. Coral Frenzy

    Changing salts

when I first saw pineapple sponges in my fuge and sump I panicked - just knew I had some terrible infestation of hydroids. We live and learn.:D

    Anemone frag fest

I don't recall exactly what Calfo said when he was hear... but in my mind it was about the pressure/pinching required to use scissors vs the scalpel. With the scalpel two easy cuts from the mouth outward, very little pressure required so no "bruising". The foot usually closes within minutes...

    Changing salts

Reef Crystals is Instant Ocean with more calcium. We have had good luck with it.

    Anemone color

Joker, I wish I had done only two things wrong! :) Don't take the feed back personally, this is about reef tanks, not people. Reef geeks are passionate about the hobby and spend a lot of time sharing with others their experiences - good and bad - so we can ALL learn. If they didn't want to...

    Anemone frag fest

scissors will cause more trauma, scalpel or single edge razor is better and cleaner.
