    Photography from Meeting

Well I finally got around to playing with my wife's camera, with the tricks we talked about at the meeting. I think the biggest difference came from figuring out how to set the custom white balance. Anyhow here are a couple of the decent looking photo's I took so let me know what you think...

    ID help please

Thanks Michael, I was pretty sure that is what it was, I think they are both ORA. They both came on ORA plugs, and the guy said he had a ORA order that got mixed with a bunch of other sps frags that he has had for a while, he couldn't identify any of them, either way, I think I got a great...

    ID help please

Hey Kevin, I got a couple pics of those frags I was talking about that I picked up last weekend, I was surfing around and I believe the purple one is a plum crazy although I am not sure about that. The pic of the cream/orange one is very accurate, but the color on the purple one didn't turn...

Phosphate test read 1.0 mg/l ok or bad?

I was attempting to avoid that whole topic(not very well I see), I was merely pointing out that his system of free ro/di water is a 'have at it' kinda thing and people dip there buckets into his barrels.

I get it from Barbie at Aquarium Solutions, I know that Steve will give it free, but I have seen some of the containers dipped into his buckets  In addition to that you can look at the quality of the tanks in the two shops, and just know that you are getting good stuff from Barbie.

    Nudibranch???

Well I recently found out what the stomatela snails look like, and have a few. This guy is much bigger, not the uniform oblong shape, and does not appear to have a shell. Sorry about the photo, I suck at taking photos, and on top of it I was trying to shoot the back of the tank through corner...

    Nudibranch???

Okay so I was looking at my tank this morning before the lights came on and saw what I think is some kind of nudibranch. It is very curious looking around the size of a quarter I took a pic, but the only thing it is good for is the color and profile of whatever it is. I don't know how long it...

    fish removale

fishing method works, I tried the bottle trick, but one miss and my fish were wise on it. I took a size 20 hook cut off the barb put a tiny piece of mysis right on the tip only and bam...now the fish is in my other tank. This does leave a little hole, but it heals in days. Happy hunting.

    Emerald Crabs

I have never seen an emerald eat corals, but I had three in my bc29 due to two hitchhiking in. The only thing that happened was the bigger of the three caught and killed the other two, it was actually sad he left one of them with only one leg till it starved. I think the rule is one per 30g or...

Phosphate test read 1.0 mg/l ok or bad?

Well I have been buying mine from the lfs at .25g, I would love to buy an ro/di unit, but I will probably wait till we get a house and I can mount it permanently, in the mean time I just have 8 6gallon jugs and make a trip for water as neccessary.

    Bristle worms

I had a neon psuedochromi that loved bristleworms, he only went after the little ones though, so I still have several large ones in the tank but the little ones were food. I wouldn't suggest this method though since neon dottybacks are aggresive, I had to fish him out because I couldn't add any...

Phosphate test read 1.0 mg/l ok or bad?

Thats it....I have been meticulous about testing for p in my water change and top off water and yet I have a trace amount poping up in my tank, but I got like three different kinds of freezer food from a friend that got out of the hobby, so that has to be where it came from, I didn't realize...

    ID please

Well I am looking over my tank this morning and while looking at the frags on my frag rack found this little guy, I was a little freaked out since I just read about the coral gall crabs, it has the shell of one of those, but it has the lowers of a snail, or nudibranch. Anyone recognize it...

    My 75gallon

My light setup is an IceCap one, and here is the closeup of the RBTA that you requested. Sorry for the poor quality, again I am not the photographer of the family.

    My 75gallon

I will see if I can get a good shot in the next couple days, and as for the lights, it is a 4x54w T-5 retrofit kit that is overclocked, the brand slips my mind at the moment though, I'll post it when I find out again.

Why do people put socks to catch water as it falls into the fuge/sump?

I take mine into the sink turn it inside out and run lots and lots of water through it, I have heard that dishwasher/ washing machine are good, but I'm not sold that you wouldn't end up with some soap residue, so I use just water.

Why do people put socks to catch water as it falls into the fuge/sump?

Filtration, they are called filter socks and you can ge them in different sizes, and/or filtration capabilities. I use one mostly just to catch particulates that would otherwise be floating around in my water, i.e. digested seaweed from my foxface.
