    Green Neon Torch

Looks great, most of what is available seems to be the indo brown torch. It is different, but not as colorful as what you have. Nice find to have several healthy heads on it.

    Sick Klein Butterfly fish

Brian: just saw your thread, sorry to hear about your KB. I have one and haven't experienced the red patches yours presents. Mine had a few scales missing in the transfer and is now back to normal. They are great additions and I like having one in my reef tank - hasn't really nipped at...

    Bristleworms

I don't really believe it to be the bw either, nor do I think it is the serpent stars. If I had brittle stars - like a green then I might think it possible as they can be opportunistic when they get large. Still puzzled as to who or what might be the culprit.

    Bristleworms

I got a video of this beast tonight, now I just have to send it from my phone to my email and figure out how to post a video. I have to admit that it was fascinating to watch....even in flashlight lighting. Longer than I thought also.......

    Bristleworms

lizardarm: I did have a predatory crab in my tank about a year ago and removed it, haven't seen a sign since. BTW when the crab was in the system I didn't have the empty shells that I have today. And yes, I do have a bristleworm that is at least 10" long - my second one that I have found.

    Bristleworms

I know that bristleworms are beneficial to the reef systems in that they consume detritus and theoretically don't go after living matter. Is that true when they reach large proporations? Say 10 inches or so? I have been missing a lot of hermits and snails and end up with empty shells, could...

    Algae in Sump Refugium

The hard part about a refugium is to leave it alone. It isn't supposed to be pretty, just functional. The green hairy algae that you have noticed, is it on the walls of the fuge and it is more of a branching? or is it in specific clumps? The branching kind has come and gone in my fuge and I...

Leopard Wrasse not burrowing to sleep?

When they are healthy and at their peak, they bury their entire body including the head. You typically can't even tell where they are. Mine have favorite places in the tank and I typically try to observe them the first week or so to know their bury spots. Sounds like she is in the right...

Leopard Wrasse not burrowing to sleep?

Glad she made it through the night, does she have any abrasions or abnormalities on her scales? If you can get some amphipods for her, that usually gets a really good eating response. Sorry if you already posted, but how long have you had her?

Leopard Wrasse not burrowing to sleep?

It does sound as if he doesn't have the strength to bury. I had a male leopard that took me some time to get back on track and I overfed the tank to ensure I could watch and make sure he got enough. If you have in a frag tank, it needs to have a sand substrate (I am sure you know that, but...

    Stores in Scottsdale/Pheonix Area?

There are three major stores that I frequent. The first is Aquarium Arts (Alma School and Baseline) (not open Sunday) 1810 W Baseline Rd # 1 Mesa, AZ 85202-9008 - (480) 820-8688 The second is About the Reef (they moved to Scottsdale) http://www.aboutthereef.com/contactus-phx1.html The last is...

    Time Zone

Update: the male leopard is doing fine. He is still on the 'wrong' schedule, all be it his time. I feed him once at 4:00am and then right before going to work. He hasn't fattened up yet but is eating and swims all around the tank and exhibits the typical hunting behavior of a leopard. Just...

    Lets Talk about salt mixes

I have always used Tropic Marin Pro and never had to dose. My parameters keep fairly stable and I have been using TMP for a while now. Hope that helps. There are websites that provide specific values in each salt mix. The only thing I don't like about TMP is it is typically expensive....

    Derasa - Color Change

Barry: thank you, the photo is very helpful and looks like what is happening under the syphon.

    Derasa - Color Change

I only use RO/DI water for top off and mixing salt. From day one I have only used Tropic Marin Pro and never had any issues. I have dosed magnesium for my acans - I have not dosed for a lest a week. I changed my bulbs about 3 months ago, so don't think at this point that is a contributor. I...

    Derasa - Color Change

Barry: thank you for the reply. My DT is on a chiller and there is nominal variation in temp. My salinity has always been 1.024-1.025 with the latter being 95% of the time. I have tried moving the clam up a little and if it isn't in the sand bed....it isn't happy and will close quickly to...

    Derasa - Color Change

I have had my Derasa for about 1 1/2 years and it has always seemed to be very healthy and forgiving of being my first clam. In the past two weeks I have noticed that on some of the edges the color in the margin is starting to fade to white and there is a white patch (almost square) under it's...

    Huge bristle worm...

Bristle Worms I have had a couple that turned out to be bigger than desired. Here is a pic of one that I had and knew it was in my rock, but could never find it. One evening I found it in the overflow and reached in (with tongs) and got it out. Kind of a shame to have gotten rid of it, but...
