    Sump Tank Question

I agree, would go to at least a 20g if you can. I have a 50g and it's amazing how fast it fills up when you start putting all the stuff in it.

The best way to ramove a wrasse from youre tank is ?

There's something about those coral beauties, there too smart. I had the same problem after I caught mine nipping on my clams to the point where they wouldn't come out. The coral beauty had to go.

    Pickle Lime results

I wondered about that. After only one month the top off container and everything in it (pump and low water switch etc..) is coated with the white lime. You say use vinegar to clean it, sounds good. Thx :)

    Where to Get Pickling Lime?

I'm in Spokane where the LFS does carry pickle lime and the mark up is not bad either. Good stuff, it has made my tank maintenance time go down, ph go up (couldn't get it above 8.0 before the lime now at 8.4). Balanced the cal and alk.

    Pickle Lime results

Yeah Mike, that is the dkh level. I am letting it settle before adding it to my ATO container. I'm not dripping it but letting my auto top off pump it in as needed to replace evaporation water. I know this is not the best way to deliver it (slow drip is the best) but it is way to convienient. I...

    Pickle Lime results

It makes balancing the water chemistry soooo much easier! I am also using Mrs. Wages, it's much cheaper then adding calcium and alk buffer.

What is ESV kalkwasser? How much does it cost? Using the kalkwasser has made the system so stable it's easy to take care of, that makes me happy:cool: (< this is me being happy) Evaporation seems to be pretty consistant. With the change of seasons coming it's something to keep an eye on. Thx.

    Pickle Lime results

After reading forums on kalkwasser I started using pickle lime and the results on the my ph,alk and calcium are amazing. My ph has gone from 8.0 to 8.4. I could never get it much above 8.0 . I had been adding buffer and calcium on a regular basis, chasing the correct parameters. Last time I...

Need Help with Hairy Green Algea

What type of filters do you have? If you're using tap water your phosphates are probably high, feeding the algae.

    PH-How high is too high?

I've started using pickle lime in my top off water. The ph has gone from 8.0 to 8.4. The top of the color scale on my test kit is 8.6. At what level does the ph become to high? Above 8.6?

    Has anyone dealed with Aquacave

I bought a octopus skimmer that I had some problems with. I thought the pump was the problem and contacted customer service. First time no luck, second day I called early in the morning and talked to a person. He told me to also email him as a reminder of the issue. A day or so later I got an...

Help, How Can I Prevent Mold

I haven't seen the set up, we just talked about his set up and I thought it was a great idea. Taking all the heat and humidity (and smell) and venting it outside. Here's how I think it would work. You need a fairly airtight hood cover. (kevinpo was the one telling me about this. He said when he...

Help, How Can I Prevent Mold

I have used a humidifier and thought it to be a pain in the butt. It was loud and put off too much heat. When I set up my 180g the hood will be vented outside.

Help, How Can I Prevent Mold

I heard about a closed hood system with a bathroom fan type of venting. The guy has a 500g and has no issues like humidity or mold or heat from halides. Its all vented outside through a dryer type vent. This is one of my long term projects. I think it sounds like a great solution.
