    Mangroves

Ahh, interesting, I hadn't heard anyone say anything about the mangroves' overuse of other elements. Thank you for sharing your experience tamarindthai. How many did you have? On what size system?

    Mangroves

Well yeah, I was thinking as an additional nutrient export. The chaeto looks like a snarly mess to me, kinda like the java moss in the fresh tank. I would imagine it would be easy for shtuff to get stuck in? Plus I don't have tons of room in the sump, so I was thinking the mangrove may take less...

    Mangroves

Hi, So I haven't been back in the hobby for all that long, really, I know that when I last kept tanks, many folks were using mangroves. I was wondering if anyone is still using them?? And if not, why?

    Experience with bristlenose filefish?

Experience with bristletail filefish? Hi all I was just reading about using bristletail filefish for aiptasia control... Anyone have any experience??

    Goofy fish

I've kept both fresh and saltwater critters, and it's been my experience that my saltwater friends have more personality than the freshwater that I've personally had. I can't be the only one whose tanks have been a source of amusement, so I thought it might be fun to share stories of what your...

    AWWWWWW Tank Crash!

So sorry to hear about your loss. But if you see some crabs and snails have made it through, maybe you'll have more pleasant surprises, and find more pulls through and perks up as you get the nasty water out of there. Good luck.

A sea cucumber almost crashed my tank

Good luck, I sure hope everything makes it through alright. I've been through a cuke nuke, and it was devistating. Hopefully you caught it in time.

    Maybe a tweak?

Thanks for the input. I understand, Mike, it's gotta be a tough gig to be a mod, cuz it's impossible to keep everyone happy 100% of the time. :) thanks for letting me know Adam. Every time I've gone there to check they're always out, with no eta for when they can get more. Sounds like it's...

    Maybe a tweak?

K, I don't want to start another inflammitory thread, but I have a question regarding the new group buy rules. Though I'm aware of the logic behind the rule, and the role that sponsors play in keeping the site going, what about when the sponsors don't have what we need? Maybe there should be an...

    premium membership

just an idea, tryin to help think of things people might find attractive, and be willing to pay for, cuz I thought that's what this thread was. Maybe it wasn't a good idea. Already said that it might not work. Just tryin to help. Not tryin to get anyone's fur up or insinuate anything...

    premium membership

I was thinkin about features for paid premium members...and was thinkin... what about a discount for shopping with our sponsors? Maybe it wouldn't work, because maybe not all sponsors would be on board, but I think it'd be cool. I think people would pay to not only support RF, but save a few...

    Webinar Series feedback

Hi Mike, thought you lived on RAG, glad to have a familiar "face" here. :) I think that webinars would be fun, and I personally don't think that once a month is too much. This hobby is always changing, so I would imagine there would always be things to talk about. For clarification, this...

    Kinds of "nori" to avoid?

Thanks again Lee, you've been very helpful :) I'll do some more poking around and see what I can find.

    Kinds of "nori" to avoid?

Interesting, I didn't think you could freeze plants, because I thought I'd heard once somewhere something about water forming ice crystals that damage the cells of the plant and cause it to disintegrate. So that's really good to know, that I can use the freezer for "sterilization" after all. :)...

    Kinds of "nori" to avoid?

I had wondered about fresh macroalgae, but I don't have any idea how you can be sure it's free of any "nasties" before introducing it. You obviously don't want to heat it, so what would you do? Thanks again :)
